Yes I have heard about this also. Its a great potential source for lithium and hopefully viable techniques get developed and ramped up quickly.I was listening to an IID (Imperial Irrigation District) public meeting today, one of the agenda items was to sale of property to Hell’s Kitchen Geothermal by the Salten Sea in the Coachella Valley. One of the byproducts of the process is pulling minerals from the brine, lithium is one of those and they think that sometime in the next 10 years that area may be the largest supplier of lithium in the world.
Back to the hummer 'efficiency', it looks like it will use about 650wh per mile; and people are complaining about the Rivian's 440wh per mile!
