Hi All, me and the wife have been patiently awaiting our R1S. Now estimated between Jan and June next year. Today, I just placed another reservation this time for the R1T. I want the performance dual motor trim. Looks like it is only half second slower but has an additional 30 miles of rated range. I am really excited! We will ...eventually...be an all Rivian family!

You might get your T first. As for the acceleration time I am surprised it is only 0.5 s finds since the power and torque are half way between dual and quad motor which would make me think more like 3.8 seconds but that is still very fast.

I didn't configure yet, but before I reserved I "visualized". My choices, provided they are still available when I configure are:

R1T Adventure, LA Silver, Black Mountain/Dark Ash Wood, front PPF, Enhanced/performance Dual Motor, 21" road wheels, and manual Tanau cover.

HP listed as 700hp, 0-60 3.5s, and range 350 mi (Large Pack)

I plan to tow a 5000 lb travel trailer about a dozen times or less per year. According to the site tow capacity is the same for dual motor.

Wife's R1S has been configured for a good while now. Quad Motor, Large Pack, El Cap Granite, same interior choice as my R1T above, PPF, 21" road wheels/tires.

Site said 1-4 months for R1T. Not sure if that means delivery or just configuration email. I'm not in a huge rush and the used examples are going for just as much so I just figure order and wait.

Looked at F150 Lightning Lariat first due to availability but was disappointed. The Rivian seems like a much better value to us.

Dual motor uses the Rivian in-house motors which makes more horsepower per motor, so the dual motor is not quite 1/2 the power. It's 600 HP vs 835 HP. Enhanced dual motor upgrade is 700 HP.

I’m guessing the Enhanced 100HP increase is done via software.

Always amazed that some people buying/wanting the same generation of the same vehicle (albeit SUV and Truck).

I've never owned the new version of the same model, let alone essentially the same model. There are so many other options.

I know people love certain brand and models of vehicles. I often see a driveway comprised of all MB, or BMW or Subaru or even Tesla models. So brand royalty is a real thing - I get it. It's just not for me.

Good luck with your R1S/T. We're hoping that the April update will pull our R1S order into later this year, since it's a Nov21 preorder. Rivian is on the record saying that they'll be done with pre-March pricing order by late summer.

My point was half way between 600hp and 835hp is around the 799ho for the performance dual drive. Similar for torque (actually a little less than half at 700 in between 600 and 935) so I am surprised the acceleration is closer to the quad than the standard dual.

Tesla has an upgrade on the model 3 and Y long range vehicles which drops half a second off the 0-60 for $2,000.

My undering with the Enduro motor it's the same thing. I wonder if folks who purchased the standard version will be able to upgrade after delivery to the enhanced version which gets that 100hp bump. Its expensive though....I think that was an extra $5,000...but....if Rivian still qualified for the 7500 rebate and the owner met income and tax liability requirements that would be a good way to get the MSRP down just below 80k. Then get your tax credit and refund purchase the software upgrade.

All this assuming Rivian allows it and this truly is software limited in the standard dual motor.
