Incoming text messages not showing up

Gen 2 R1S. My incoming text messages are not showing up on the driver display or under the messages screen in the phone tab. I can send messages via the Rivian assistant, but the incoming messages do not display. Phone is Apple 17. The operating system and Rivian app are both updated. I have triple-checked the Bluetooth settings in my phone and the vehicle settings per the common troubleshooting suggestions. I have also unpaired the phone and re-paired it to see if that would help. Messages are still not showing up. Please share any suggestions. Thank you.

I haven't seen them come up on my display either but I get a notification and then the left scroll wheel and buttons on the steering wheel allow me to have Rivian Assistant read the message to me and then she prompts me if I want to reply etc.

This is 100% happening. I mentioned it earlier and someone said "it does notify you, it's just low volume." Nope, I can send texts via Rivian Assistant, but it is 100% silent on received texts, I'm pretty sure it's not getting the notification from the phone at all. I have message notifications turned on for sure.

Have you tried restarting your phone? I had to reboot my iphone to get it to work properly.

The problem I have is that pressing the right button on the left side of the steering wheel does not read the incoming message. Isn't that what it's supposed to do?

Yes, this is my issue as well. I can send messages, but I get zero audio or visual notice of incoming messages. I have done the troubleshooting steps and checked all of my phone and vehicle settings.

Experiencing exact same issues. Can send but not receive and the messages screen doesn’t display prior messages. Using an iPhone 17 pro. Has anyone with an android had success? Curious if this is isolated to iPhone only.

Did you turn on the "Show Message Notifications" in the Bluetooth settings?

iPhone > Settings > Bluetooth > Rivian Audio (tap the blue "i" in the circle)

Yes "show message notifications" is turned on in my bluetooth settings. Nothing is showing up on my R1S messages screen and incoming messages are not coming through.

Same, first thing I did was to ensure "Show message notifications" was turned on. Still, have never received an incoming text notification on the Rivian.

I have an iPhone14 pro max. Text messaging works fine in RA for me.

Say Tell {someone in my contacts} a message, it confirms message and sends it

Incoming messages come in, get an audio alert and shows a ribbon lower left corner of driver display. If I hit the inside button of the left scroll wheel it reads the message and asks if I want to reply.

I have an early G1 R1S.

Same issue for me. I can send messages (when assistant can find my contacts - it’s flakey) but never receive them. I’m on the latest version of iOS with a gen 1 R1S.

sounds like it’s time for a poll. Gen 1 R1T and messaging works as intended.

Gen 2 R1S. I'm on the latest ios and Rivian app is updated. I can send through RA but cannot receive. Messages do not show up on message screen.

For those with iPhones, if you have verified that the Rivian Audio that is connected has show messages enabled, have you tried either turning off Bluetooth on the iPhone and turning it back on and/or rebooting the phone?
