I'm more impressed by the m/kWh over that distance - what HAVE you been doing @Fencer ?Wait a sec! You have to be the high milage hero! I've yet to see anything higher. Brilliant!

If you use 34 megawatts to go 100k miles, is that clean air driving? I honestly can’t tell haha.@Fencer That’s a lot of miles! But why are the mi/kWh low? I assume a lot of 80+ MPH driving?
Asking because I’m about to purchase my first EV/Rivian and what to establish realistic range expectations.
Thanks all for the input - picked up last Monday. Been on two 200 mile trips so far - all good.Been planning for months to order an R1T TRI when the lease on my Ford F150 Hybrid is over and now the time has come. Getting cold feet as I read some new posts with serious issues. Not afraid of some issues but am concerned with long down times. Really don’t have another desirable choice as I would like something smaller than the F150 so the Lightening and Sierra are less than ideal options. Some feedback from others who were feeling the same would be appreciated.
If you follow the story of the guy I quoted he’s had probably the worst service experience on here and even then he’s not telling you to run the other way. That’s an endorsement in and of itself.I‘ve been having a very challenging experience with my Rivians, and here’s my main piece of advice: Before you drive off the lot, spend ample time inspecting and testing the vehicle, and don‘t hesitate to reject it if you have any doubts.
My first R1T was something of an outlier I’ve never heard of someone taking a mechanically sound Rivian in for service and then needing a buyback because the service center caused such severe issues. Despite that, we purchased an R1S based on the positive experience we had with the first R1T before its problems started. That R1S has and continues to be great.
Our second R1T represents a more common scenario: problems surfaced on day one and never really went away. In hindsight, we should have walked away and requested a different VIN when we first saw it go into turtle mode. If anything about the vehicle makes you uncertain, walk away and ask for a new VIN. Learn from my mistake: do as I say, not as I did.![]()
It’s surprising that this issue remains unresolved - and that I have only embarked on one single trip this year that is not to or from the service center. I’ll update my thread later, but I’m now scheduled to drive to Normal next Monday. Frankly, I’m not thrilled about driving roughly three hours each way—especially given the potential front motor mount issues—just to reach the SC for what will almost certainly be the final attempt to secure the “troubled Trimax” in the condition it should have been in back in December. Losing two full days from work will be inconvenient, but without a better option from Rivian, this seems to be the only way forward. Meanwhile, my wife has fully embraced a “f these guys” mindset, though I’m not enthused by the GMC alternatives—likely the Hummer or the Sierra EV. That said - I'll likely test drive the Hummer 3x this weekend. If you follow the story of the guy I quoted he’s had probably the worst service experience on here and even then he’s not telling you to run the other way. I am only 2 weeks and 600+ miles into my R1T Tri and enjoying it. I tried the Sierra EV and really liked it (was replacing an F150 so used to the size) and the greater ease of having a dealer network however the vehicle traction control and the tires make it a non-starter for winter and off road driving.
