Just for reference... my i3 has been at a body shop for the last 15 days (it got rear-ended by a Smart Car of all vehicles).
I dropped it off 15 days ago with 91% battery SOC, today it's at 89%. So 2% loss in 15 days... and the car has been stored outside the whole time with morning temps in the mid 20's.
wow. I really don't get it. I don't understand why rivian can't do whatever other EV makers do re: Vampire drain.

Hopefully they can get there with some digging and SW refinements. Currently it looks like when you're not using the Rivian it sleeps for 3hrs, wakes for a full one hour then sleeps for another 3hrs than wakes for another full hour, in an endless cycle over and over again. So over a 24hr period where your truck is not being used.. it's fully "awake" for 6hrs needlessly.

Right I heard that too. Even shipping mode, apparently doesn’t do much for it but I might try that this weekend.

And the funny thing is... you can still have connectivity services without ridiculous range losses. While my BMW i3 has been at the body shop for the last two weeks.. I have been checking it's location via the BMW phone app at least 2X per day to see if they've moved it/done any work on it. Even with me waking up the car 2X per day for location services.. it still only lost only 2% charge over 15 days.

Love (LOVE!) the truck, but so far I'm a little concerned about battery.
Vampire drain:
First pic is this morning. 88%. Second pic is night before, 91%, so only 10 hours earlier. Yeah it' sa little cold, but I really hope it doesn't lose 3% every 10 - 12 hours. Imagine going camping for 2 nights, that would be 12% just sitting there.

Charging:
Haven't gotten wall charger installed yet and the only "fast" charger near me is an EVGO spot, which has 4 200kwh chargers. Great, I thought. I tried 3 of them and the 'best' one delivered the results in the last pick, which is about 40kwh. I pulled in with 60%, left with 95% (I charged to 95% b/c it will be a little while before wall charger is ready).

Any thoughts on either? I called the EVGO customer support and of course they just sounded like the teacher in The Peanuts.

I lost 3% in one day, not 12 hours. And that was with gear guard on, I turned that off and it is less now. Can't speak to the charging, lucky to have a home tesla charger for the wife's m3.

With 2-weeks of ownership under my belt vampire drain is my #1 complaint with the R1T.

I lose between 2% and 3% a night, gear-guard off, sitting in a garage, about 50 degrees.

Rivian seems to be aggressive about battery temps. We had multiple days of temps about -10 below. The cab temp was always about +10 so I would guess a lot of energy is spent keeping the batteries at a higher temp.

This needs to be brought down to 0-1% at most with coming updates. Too much loss IMO.

I have owned my R1T exactly one month as of today. I noticed some vampire drain but never documented the loss until yesterday.

I plugged in and charged to 85% yesterday. It’s been sitting idle in my carport and today I decided to document the vampire drain.

In just over 24 hours I have lost 7 miles and 2% of my battery. Ouch!!! This amount of energy loss is unacceptable in my book.

I experience the same, at least 4% loss sitting doing nothing if at home, and I have set gear guard off at home, at work and the home daily commute, 3% to 5% while sitting there doing nothing on daily basis.

Can someone ELI5 why loosing 2-3% per day is bad? I understand excess charging costs but shouldnt this be about $180/year only? Sure I am missing something.

You‘re at family in the middle of nowhere with no lvl 2 charging. You have to drive decent distance to airport in winter and are gone for a week.

Exactly. I’m worried about a weeklong trip in a cabin in northern Minnesota.
