That was my original idea. Get the 21s for the daily usage, and I can always get 20s if I want to do more off-roady things. Being impatient, I just changed to 20s to get the truck sooner. Like you, I'm considering getting a second set of rims/tires, a set of 21" rims/tires to swap in for day to day usage.However, the R1 will be my family's daily driver so I'm going with the 21" wheels for the extra 10-15% of mileage. Lots of folks here are dismissing that 10-15% efficiency, but it adds up and can be significant over the lifetime of your R1. The 21" wheels and stock tires will save me thousands of dollars in charging costs.
I'll eventually get a set of 20" wheels and AT tires for the occasional off-roading adventures. Unlike tires, I can swap wheels at home when needed.
Based on the spare prices, it's probably cheaper this way to get the free upgrade 20s on the truck and buy the 21s after delivery.
