Got quotes from both my current carrier (Progressive) and Rivian (Nationwide). Progressive says my premium will go up 50% vs. similar coverage on my 2019 4Runner. New premium covering just the Rivian would be $719 for 6 months. Rivian quoted $541. I’ll probably shop around some other carriers, but as of right now it’s Rivian Insurance for the win!

got a quote 2 days ago from Rivian (Nationwide) and from Geico, I'm in South Florida (Miami-Dade county). Rivian's Agent, who by the way was great and gave me some pointers on my coverage and recommended I up some of my coverage, told me before he even ran my info that in south Florida Nationwide is nowhere near the price of Geico. Rivian (Nationwide) does have some benefits, like oem parts, off-road coverage, etc.. but it was also more than double my Geico quote. btw, Rivian insurance gave me what they called a test Vin, to get an accurate quote from Geico. With Geico my premium went down from my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 Diesel by $12 a month, $690 per month for 6 months for Geico and $ 1,490 for Rivian (Nationwide).

Quote from MileAuto (Porsche) shows $44.50 base (6 mos.) and 11.3 cents per mile. It's a good policy if you have multiple cars or not commuting long distances. No tracker installed, you grab a pic of your odometer every renewal. Unfortunately only currently available in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Oregon, and Texas. I've not had to make a claim, so I cannot speak to that process...

My Statefarm policy for my R1T is $468/6 months (includes multipolicy and bundle discounts) which I think is incredible especially considering my EV6 rate was over $700/6 months.

Holy schnikies!
I got a quote from Safeco and well....
This is for a 1 year policy.
I haven't had an accident or even a ticket in over 15 years.

Seems they are skittish about repair costs. The Comp/Collision are the only real outliers, imo.

I got a similar quote from my local State Farm agent. They said it was because "electric vehicles aren't proven to be as safe as traditional vehicles." From an actuarial sense this is true because EVs haven't been around as long. They literally are not taking into account any of the safety features. It really had very little to do with possible repair costs according to my agent.

If that were the case, I'd expect the liability/CSL pricing to be significantly higher, but it isn't. The ares where the quotes are higher is specifically in collision/comprehensive which are mechanical parts/labor categories -- not injury.

That's a fair point on this specific quote, I was commenting more on the doubling of the premium. I will see if I can find my old quote and post it for the details. I let it go until I actually have a real vehicle incoming

Got quote from amica, +$140/6 months to add the R1T to my plan. Assuming 6K annual miles. Currently paying 1333 every 6 months for four cars. Thankfully not as much of an increase as I was expecting.

Just did the online Rivian/Nationwide quote and I'm a little disappointed. They want $800 for 6 months for low mileage and $1,000 deductible. My Tesla insurance for a more expensive car through Tesla was 55 bucks a month.

They do make it as hard as they can to comparison shop.

When I got the Tesla, Allstate wanted like $1200 for 6 months and that was with the house coverage bundled. Left the house with Allstate and I did time with Geico for like $100 a month but they kept raising the rates. Then Tesla offered theirs and it had the same kind of coverage for $56.80 a month and it styed at that price until I sold it this year.
