That’s a great question. We quoted on 22’s for a thing that’s not been talked about yet but I don’t know anything about 21’s.

Well played, sir. Was looking at that yesterday as someone pointed out on a thread about aftermarket wheels and sizing.
1: I’m only a recovering engineer and don’t feel like doing the real math on fitment, circumference, etc, but the load and speed rating is in the right window.
2: I’m not a massive product expert but this tire is only 2 years old so reflects new design strategy/ethos from the last few years (fewer overall products, want BS brand to be first or second best in category, and design for aftermarket then tune slightly for OE).
3: keep in mind this is not an “EV” tire which primarily means it will not have the noise absorbing foam being used in tires with EV markings on the sidewall. So it will be louder.
4: I’m probably going with the Dueler A/T Revo 3. But that’s as much for look as for A/T performance - I’m buying this extremely capable off road machine, let’s go use it.

The 21" tire availability has come up in multiple threads. In the latest, I asked how difficult it is to mfg a new tire size? With the increasing sophistication of CAD/CAM in some industries, the production line setup costs have come down so far that the volumes required to make a line change are almost nothing. Of course, there are a whole host of other reasons not to make a specific size of tire, but I am curious about how difficult it is to, for example, make a 275/55 R21 if you are already making something fairly close in size? And what is the main variable that is problematic...radius?

Mold cost is the biggest element of development, but the much (much much) larger problem is purely capacity. The tire industry is 100% capacity constrained in North America, so to make something new you've got to give up something old.

Secondarily is rim diameter (this is a factor in which plant could produce these tires/has capacity, and it's only worse for 20" plus diameters).

Third factor that I just mentioned above is "EV-specific" technology (LRR, sponge for NVH, and sealant for run-flats). Some of these are also plant specific due to other capital equipment requirements.

Me - Madison Wisconsin area, late 30s, and anticipating delivery of my Limestone/Ocean Coast R1T in the next week! This will be my first truck and my first EV, trading in my beloved 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo - it's time to get something bigger finally, though I will miss my sporty little hatchback! My husband will drive the R1T too, but it's absolutely primarily my vehicle!

Hi, I preordered an R1T in October 2021 and ended up buying a white all-terrain Rivian R1T on the secondary market after getting several pushed deliveries into 2024. However, I changed my pre-order to an R1S because I love my truck SO MUCH! Currently sitting at an estimated Oct-Dec '23 window but just changed my colors to Limestone/OC because I saw them in person and absolutely LOVED the Limestone.

I'm from Wichita Kansas, have a 40 acre farm with my husband, and own several businesses. He only drives it if I had too much to drink at dinner. LOL! Can't wait for my R1S!

awesome that you got a secondary market one that you love - that's smart! I'm so excited about the Limestone too - I haven't seen it in person, but just the pics fully won me over - I desperately wanted Launch Green (aka martini olive green, as I liked calling it), but Limestone has replaced it in my heart!

my husband said "maybe you'll be the DD now that you'll have a vehicle you love driving so much!".... umm, no sir, highly unlikely

I've been driving a Leaf for 12 years... pre ordered and everything. Fully committed to driving electric and never going back. The Leaf was the only option really back then unless I wanted a Tesla Roadster.

I've been thinking of getting a Tesla 3 and then Y but could never justify the price. (no car payment is nice) But what I really want is a true SUV and Tesla seems to not want to release one. That and Tesla removing ultrasonics and potentially stalks on the steering wheel is making me pause.

My experience with third party chargers with the Leaf made me want to not buy anything other than a Tesla just for the Supercharger reasons alone - but now with the Supercharger network opening up I can start thinking of an R1S. The price is almost double what I'd pay for a Y though. I'd wait for the R2 but I really want 7 seats.

The car is gorgeous too. I can technically afford it. Just need to save up more so I don't have a huge car payment.

What still gives me pause is the charging? What's everyone experience been charging on the road?

I'm in SoCal - is there a place where I can see it? There's a center in Venice I think I remember seeing.

Yes the Rivian Hub is in Venice, and they have both on display ever since the S was released. Socal is probably one of the better charging locations. Plenty of charging between LA and Las Vegas for example.
