Well Rivian completely deleted my config yesterday for their April pause, my deposit is now refundable, and the "guaranteed" price lock is gone. That after getting a sales call for "expedited delivery" from current inventory, but the salesperson couldn't see the exact match I could see in the shop and was pushing my least desired color combo (white on black). I guess I'll hang on to see what happens in May, but I'm kinda expecting another 20% price increase and more feature deletes--no 12VDC or 120VAC in the rear? no 5V USB? no compressor? HHOS...

That’s frustrating. I’m not sure what they’ll remove on the refreshed R1s, but they should definitely be adding some of the features they debuted on the R2.

Someone even speculated that there might be multiple variants of each model containing a combination of old and new features. Sort of a best of both worlds scenario. Rivian definitely needs to do something before 2026 to drive demand.

To be clear, I'm not complaining that I missed out on anything. When I deposited in February, I expected to wait until May or later. I'm just confused that I was not matched to multiple vehicles that had my previously locked config (especially with comments on some of the other threads). I don't expect an answer here, and both the guide and salesperson expressed ignorance, but thanks for reading.

Exact same thing just happened to me. Confirmed configuration on a shop R1 Friday evening. Figured I’d hear something almost immediately which did not happen, so I emailed to inquire. Got a response this morning from CS saying I haven’t been matched with a VIN. Super odd they advertise shop vehicles as if they exist? Slightly confusing.

…or maybe they’ll exact revenge on me for dragging my feet for a year and make me wait now.

After multiple long delays and silent periods from salespeople, I now have another locked config, this time with a VIN RN041xxx -- seems a little low for just showing up in the shop this week(?). 8 steps opened; we'll see if it sticks, so I won't jinx it by posting much more about it until I take delivery.

Edit: after posting, I went outside to find my first bloom of the season. Hopefully a good sign!

Hi, all! Been lurking for a bit, but decided to join and start posting as I've just started the order process.

I've been on the pre-order queue for a Cybertruck since January of 2020. As the delivery date has slipped, the price has gone (way) up, and the reviews have been tepid, I decided to start looking at options a few weeks ago.

I'm very fortunate: we live less than 150 miles from Normal, IL. So my wife and I drove up to the factory last week--just in time to have our test drive completely shook up by the Governor's visit (apparently, nobody told any of the "boots on the ground" that they'd be dealing with that--not a Rivian thing, that's pretty much SOP for large organizations!). But our test drive did happen and the combination of that and the background reading we've been doing convinced us to press the "go" button.

While poking around (very long story for another post), I found the perfect (for us) configuration not on the "configurator" but as a demo model! I'd have gone for this configuration anyhow, but finding it on deep discount--hell yeah! (I don't want to be too specific until it's finalized.)

I spoke with a "delivery guide" this morning. He's doing a "VIN matching" (whatever that means) for me now. By delightful coincidence, the truck is located in a city to which I already had travel plans for June 5. So we're going ahead with the order and I'll pick up the vehicle and drive it home (fingers crossed!) in early June!

I'm sure I'll have loads of questions, so I'm grateful to have this forum available! I hope I'm not too much of a burden early on and can give as much as I get as time passes.

Finally delivered! They did my requested wheel swap then let it sit 3 weeks until I started asking about it daily. 3 tries to get the lease agreement correct and to me in time for a scheduled delivery. Now it's home with no real issues, new car odor is pretty strong and lingers in my nose; new tire smell fills my garage! (For some reason I can no longer post pictures in any of my browsers.)

Which wheel swap did you do?

I’ve been requesting the 22-inch wheels swap from the 21s, an incentive they did last quarter, and I’ve been getting the response from my sales guy that “we will have to wait until mid-June to see if any incentives are offered on old inventory, which I don’t think there will be.”

It was a shop vehicle with 20" darks, and I "downgraded" to regular 20" which I think look better with the silver paint. This was in early April, after quarter-end, and my salesperson made it sound they could do generally do swaps with appropriate price adjustment. I think the quarter-end wheel incentive was a free upgrade of wheel choice.

Ha! No, I can slip out the door. When I move some stuff I'll be able to open the door about halfway. I can walk past it too, just sideways around the mirrors and corners. About an inch clearance on the mirrors coming in. I measured about 10 times before ordering!

Got it. Thank you for the clarification there. I can understand no pushback on a downgrade.
