We just made the decision to purchase an R1T.

We ordered the LA Silver, Dual-Motor AWD with the Large battery and 21" road wheels and tires through the shop. Thought I was ordering a 2023, but the VIN indicates it's a 2024.

We're replacing our Toyota Tacoma and with this purchase we will be an all-electric household with a Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 as our other vehicle (2022; 33,500 miles).

Looking forward to the truck. A bit apprehensive as this will be by far our most expensive vehicle.

10k miles in and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to go with the R1T.

The process has gotten off to a teensy-bit of an inauspicious start. It's really minor and just website software and UX rather than anything important.

The currently-active steps to complete my order include selecting insurance: either bringing my own or getting a quote from Rivian. To do my due diligence, I asked for a quote, expecting it to be wildly out of sync with what our current provider would charge. The website let me go through several of the steps of providing information and then just kind of got stuck in a loop telling me to call the insurance representative. I emailed (I'm not a phone call kind of person).

Today they responded with a quote (great!). The quote is 5x what I'll pay through my current insurer (boo!). The rep also said I should not complete the insurance step until I have a delivery date.

So... The ordering process on the website needs to be better communicated.

Like I say, it's not a major thing, but was a bit frustrating for 20 minutes yesterday while I tried to figure out what I was doing wrong and why I couldn't just back out of the quote process and tell Rivian I was going to bring my own insurance.

Mine arrives on March 15 here in Atlanta. Same configuration, except Forest Green exterior. We’re replacing our CRV. I also checked the VIN and was surprised it’s a ‘24.

We would have preferred the Forest Green, but there weren't any in our shop. I might get it wrapped...

Okay! That was quicker than I'd expected.
Pick-up will be available as soon as 19 March. So, no shake-down trip to Houston, but that's fine. We have another trip to TX in April and we'll take the truck then.
