I am reluctant to buy any Chinese product, let alone a car. It is almost like Americans buying Nazi German cars in 1939, because they were not so bad or even good.

We're not comparing "Chinese EVs". Not the FAW Bestune Pony: https://www.chinapev.com/faw/bestun...led-on-shangshai-show-rival-hongguang-miniev/I'm not sure you are going to win the argument on reliability of chinese built EVs. I personally wouldn't want any first generation EV from any manufacturer having lived that nightmare.
Chinese built ones, especially, are not known to be reliable.

Vehicles for the US market are not "Chinese electric cars" that the article talks of. I'm not sure you're going to win the argument based on the garbage produced in China meant for the poor people there to afford.I'm not sure you are going to win the argument on reliability of chinese built EVs. This is behind a paywall - so unfortunately you can't read the full article, but basically the Chinese Government has come down on Tesla for quality issues on their chinese made EVs.Vehicles for the US market are not "Chinese electric cars" that the article talks of. Polestar is not exactly a brand I would be waving around as an example of reliability. They have some objectively bad reliability scores.I am sure it hasn’t but to be fair neither has a Polestar or Volvo.
I'm not sure what you are comparing - I am saying that first generation vehicles - especially technically complicated vehicles like EVs - are already rolling the dice. Then you factor in that it is being built in China specifically because of the cost structure of cheap chinese materials and labor, and I am saying to you - I will pass. We're not comparing "Chinese EVs". That is a huge market, much bigger than even the US. With much more companies than the US. We're specifically comparing Volvo EVs. And for those of us with Polestar 2 exposure (I've been in a few), the quality seems to hit above Tesla in the US.
Even Tesla's quality in China is far higher than the US, although this is proportional to the car population in the respective country and not apples to apples, but still tells a story.

Oh boy, now do Rivian!Polestar is not exactly a brand I would be waving around as an example of reliability. They have some objectively bad reliability scores.
The 2023 Polestar 2 has a predicted reliability score of 58 out of 100.
Wouldn't we all want to know!? There is not enough data - but predictions are that it will be bad.Oh boy, now do Rivian!
I wasn’t waving them around as reliable merely no reports of batteries falling out!Polestar is not exactly a brand I would be waving around as an example of reliability. They have some objectively bad reliability scores.

Ok - fair enough. And the battery falling out example was more tongue-in-cheek then anything else.I wasn’t waving them around as reliable merely no reports of batteries falling out!
