Pick up my LE R1T tomorrow and had my Lightning for about 3 months. Leaning towards selling the Lightning. Anyone own both who can comment? 37 year old dad of 1 who really likes the Lightning but like new technology as well. Comfortable ride quality on crappy Dallas roads is one of my top priorities. Any advice?

I think they’re comfortable in different ways. Really no way to tell for you until you get both and see which one you end up driving more.

If you’ve had it for 3 months, you likely have an ER Lariat or Platinum. They’re going to be comparable in features.

If you’re not in a dire situation, live with both for a month and see which one you end up wanting to drive more.

interesting. I like the Lightning but it’s a little big for me. Work in the city and don’t need the utility of the Lightning. Kind of feel like it’s a blackberry vs iphone decision. And I’m definitely an iPhone.

I’m of this position. I’ve grown to really like the Lightning, especially with CarPlay available but I like the size of the Rivian better.

One thing I would definitely miss if I were to go F-150L only is the storage. I’ve got my work gloves, my disposable gloves, sunglasses, antibiotic wipes, normal wipes, flashlight, an umbrella for every passenger, tissues, extra diapers, extra clothes, and every mug, container, soppy cup, food pouch etc just has a sturdy place. Everything is neatly stashed but readily accessible.

After years of driving Tesla, I’ve gotten really excited about….storage and cup holders.

Sell both the Lightning and Mach E GT and keep the Rivian.

Hope to be in a similar spot later this year.

Got a standard XLT lightning as I didn't think an extended lariat+ was worth $80k.

If the XLT pays for the rivian, I may lean towards rivian.

The size / functionality of the lightning is better for me. I'm tall and the Rivian rear seats have poor leg room for me and anyone sitting behind me. It was similar to my old egolf which was a little disappointing. If my kid still was still in a rear facing child seat, I don't think I could stomach the Rivian.

I currently transport my road bike in the cab of my lightning, wheel on, no adjustments. It's stupidly roomy, I love it. And my bike would barely fit in rivians bed (zero interest in bike racks).

But ... Rivian has fancy tech :), and also a lot more range and faster charging. Plus being small has its advantages sometimes. They also are actually improving the truck, ford talked big about otas and it's been pretty sad so far.

But, would be hard to live without Android auto. I listen to pocket casts and there's no native feature to listen in the Rivian and it's not safe to have to use my phone while driving to adjust what I want to listen to.

Decisions, decisions... First world problems....

Ha ha, would be Android (R1T) vs. IPhone for me. Let's just say I'm a die hard Android fan from day 1. Hate Apple products with a passion - I don't like proprietary, "do as I say" things. Can't speak to the Lightning other than the famous/infamous races on YouTube, especially with the R1T towing the RAM and still beating the Lightning.

That being said, I still haven't sold my humongous Tundra Crew cab. I'm not that confident, just yet.

I also do podcast a lot and wish we could get CarPlay. Can I at least stream via Bluetooth?

Are you keeping the Mach-E? I love my Rivian but regret making it my only car. I wouldn’t be a fan of the lightning for different reasons but imagine getting service will be easier.

I received my SR XLT Lightning last month.

I love the truck but the size is beyond what I need. It‘s like buying a sledgehammer to build a 2 x 4 wall. I prefer the driving experience, form factor, suspension, technology and off-road ability of the R1T better.

I am waiting for the title to arrive from the DMV before I can entertain selling it.

Yes it's my understanding that you can stream anything from your phone via bluetooth. At least I hope so because I don't want to give up my apple music library

I also use Pocket Casts and would like to have Android Auto. But, FWIW, I randomly said "Alexa, play XX podcast" the other day and it did it through Amazon music.

Good to know, but my normal interaction is picking through 20 or so new releases to decide what I want to listen to (and often switching around). Never really navigate per podcast.
