Key FOB for R2 without Launch Package?

The Launch Package comes with the Rivian Green anodized key fob. What exactly does that mean for R2s without the Launch Pkg (my reservation is for a Premium). Will it come with NO fob, or one that is not "Rivian Green", and just "plain"?

It will just unlock when you walk up, usually at about 10-15ft but sometimes after you've reached the car and stand there briefly looking like an idiot.

I was nervous about not having a fob but years in and I love not carrying keys around. I keep a card key in my wallet as a backup for my phone. Glad to not have the fobs in my pockets anymore. Phone works great, cards work well, something about my Apple Watch but not much with that aside from knowing it does work.

I want the other parts of the Launch Package, but the fob seems like a collector's item. I assume it will not be needed with phone as key…. When I had a Tesla, I loved not having a fob. When I changed to a Cadillac Lyriq, having to carry a fob again, or go find it just to get into the car in my own garage, is annoying.

The fob works more or less exactly the same way the phone as a key does.

I "bought" one for my R1S simply because I had enough gear shop credits for it. I've never really used it. The phone works well and it's just an extra thing to have to carry around.

Conversely, our Mercedes EQE requires the fob and it's a huge pain in the butt as we are constantly getting in the vehicle and realizing we don't have the key with us. I'm in for the R2 launch edition but, if I wasn't, I'd save my money and forego getting a key fob -- maybe I'll have the special launch green one to sell in a few months if someone really wants it.

100% parked in NYC garage, phili, Boston and locally. Tesla's have done this for years it isn't that new.

Yes. Valets, inspection stations, tire shops - all understand the key card, or can be shown easily.
Just like previous generations of valets had to make the jump from physical keys to fobs and push button starts years ago.

Ha - I remember being in a tire shop around 2008 and one of the techs was working on a Prius and he came into the lobby area to ask the boss "I keep pressing the start button but the car won't start." He wasn't putting his foot on the brake....

There are enough manufacturers offering vehicles with different versions of "keys" I wouldn't be worried about valets, tire shops or service personnel.

Myself I prefer a key and FOB, but I'm getting old and stuck in my way. I don't like apps that "solve" my non existent problems, lol, I refuse to do any type of banking on my phone and I want to part of having my vehicle controlled by my phone.

My work truck was just swapped out (Volvo commercial truck) and it's a push start. It's really wired and I don't care for it.

I use a fob on a gen1 R1T all the time, and the proximity lock/unlock works well with it. I never have to stand around and I can always hear it lock when I walk away. I also have my phone as a key in my pocket the whole time, I have been meaning to test whether that makes the experience more reliable.
