Key FOB for R2 without Launch Package?

When the rear hatch is closed, is there any way to pull up the floor? I imagine the door covers the edge so you couldn't simply lift it, and I don't think the hinge bends backwards to pick it up from the middle. Maybe putting the seats down and lifting from the front edge?

That's no longer an opportunistic crime, you'd probably have to be targeted for anyone to bother trying that in a valet situation, but would be good to know if the sub-trunk is securable.

I don't know if the hatch prevents you from flipping up the floor from the back but you can certainly flip up the front portion. I watched a Bearded Tesla Guy video where he showed that. He folded down the rear seats and demonstrated how easy it was to then, while still standing next to the open rear door, flip up the front portion of the cargo cover to get to the air-inflater, jack puck, etc.

Seems like you could just pull out the entire cover after folding down the seats, even if the rear hatch prevented one from flipping it up.

Ummm...Multiple times a week sometimes. Street parking in NYC is tough to find and I wouldn't leave the Rivian on a street anyway. Depends on where you live.

Ha! That doesn't work either because you'd have to manually lock the car with your phone every time you walk away! The Rivian won't lock when you walk away when the fob is still in the car.

I guess I didn't think about NYC. Do you guys have a place at home to charge or are you exclusively fast charging?

I've lived in multiple western states but nowhere that had your parking struggles. I'm closing in on 50 and have never valet parked a vehicle. I also walk a lot so the few times I gone somewhere that has valet I park farther away and walk.

I've lived in multiple western states but nowhere that had your parking struggles. I'm closing in on 50 and have never valet parked a vehicle. I also walk a lot so the few times I gone somewhere that has valet I park farther away and walk.

We live near Lancaster, PA and I've never used a valet locally, but we're often in Philly, DC, or NYC where we pretty much have to valet our R1S. We have a charger at home and my in-laws are just outside NYC and put in a charger for us, so I've never had to charge in NYC. Our biggest NYC challenge is that a number of garage companies won't accept Rivians because if they get damaged the repair costs are too high! In the past year I think we've been turned away from at least a dozen garages because they don't take Rivians - and that's after booking it in advance where we tell them it's a Rivian AND pay the oversized vehicle fee. We've found a handful of garages that will still take us (and keep track of them in a contact so we know where to park on future visits to that part of town). I'm really hoping that the R2 won't have the same constraints in NYC. We'll see...

I have the FOB obviously, it's finicky with distance to unlock doors and open hatch, etc, but between that and my phone, it's generally open before I reach the vehicle.. both of my key cards are elsewhere, 1 at home, girlfriend has the other.

The annoying thing is that they key fob is least reliable when you're carrying a bunch of heavy stuff and have both hands full

Presumably because all the stuff you're carrying tends to block the signal between the car and the key in your pocket).
