After this most recent update, key fob does not unlock right away anymore. I have to hit it at least 4-5 times it seems before it’s recognized. Anyone else have ideas on this? Hard restart and Infotainment reset.

Me too. Takes too long with my iPhone as well.
Good to know, seems like it’s a definite bug from a few threads on Reddit I found. Hopefully Rivian will see it and resolve.

I have a mobile appt setup on 10/6 for the proximity unlocking feature working slowly/intermittently.

I keep the car unlocked at home and sometimes the car doesn't wake up before I get in. Seat & steering don't revert to remembered positions.

However, since I made the appt a few days ago, the feature seems to be working normal again.

It’s working fine for me after the upgrade.

do you mean a service request or the feedback button? I felt like the feedback button was just a black hole usually.

same, vehicle recognizes it as fully charged once awake, though.

would be nice if they could stop breaking something every time they push an update, though.

2026 R1S dual max performance
I got my 2025 R1S dual max last Tuesday and updated to 2025.34.30 two days ago. So I don’t have experience to compare before and after the update. But so far my experience with card key and cellphone combo to unlock doors are chaotic and unpredictable. Here are samples of situations encountered:

1. With only iPhone in hand (without carrying card key), my finger touches dimple on handle once unlocks driver’s door, a second quick tap unlocks rest of doors. PERFECT. But it’s not repeatable.
2. Sometimes I have to open Rivian app to wake up car before the handle will respond. (It’s embarrassing with guests waiting to get into car but I am frantically messing with my phone!)
3. I don’t like using proximity function because it unlocks and lights up every time I get near it. It’s a hassle at home and annoying while parking outside at park or picnic.
4. I even had once with card key in pocket and iPhone in hand sitting down at driver seat, screen say KEY NOT DETECTED. I have to get card out and put on wireless charging pad to start car. But it only happened once. Usually either iPhone or card key is sufficient to start car.
5. Sometimes I have both card key in pocket and iPhone in hand, touching door handle with no response. I had to either physically touch handle with iPhone or card key to make it respond.

I have been experimenting for couple of days now I still didn’t find one routine that will reliably and always to touch dimple once to open driver door and a quick second tap to open rest of doors.

I also love to touch handle once to lock doors after exiting car and not relying on auto closing especially in crowded places. Using phone to accomplish these tasks is goofy and in lot of situations not safe. One touch, peace of mind.

is all this chaos caused by not providing owner with a physical FOB? I certainly hope not!

The trouble on mine was way worse after the update. Then today works good.

To use phone to lock/unlock is fine but it has to be based on NFC technology. It’s important that neither phone or car has to be awaken to do the job. It should work instantly and every time. It should work even if phone’s battery is drained. No Bluetooth, no WiFi and no waking up anything. If a FOB can already do this, a phone should be even better and more reliable.

Anyone see anything farther on this? My fob shows linked and with good charge on the screen, but yesterday it wouldn't let me drive my truck with just my fob in my pocket.

Ironically that ended up being a good thing in that case since my phone was on the bed side rail, but that's another topic.
