Kneel on Park Issues?

Hi Folks,

Just got our R1T delivered on Thursday, and already loving it here in downeast Maine. I noticed, however, possibly after this new update, the truck does not seem to kneel upon parking despite the option being selected. Anyone else notice this or have ideas? I tend to do pickup/dropoff of our 4y/o while my wife uses the MYLR to chauffeur the older sisters around, so it would be great for my every day use case rather than having to lift him all the time.

If this is the first time you've used kneel mode, you need to go for a drive and then park for it to work the first time.

Also, bear in mind that it is pretty slow to drop and raise again. Many of us abandoned kneel mode in favor of running boards or nerf bars.

I’ve had it on this setting since we got it Thursday and it was working when we first drove it (probably have a few hundred miles on it already, it takes 20min to get anywhere in Maine), and then as of yesterday after the update, it’s not doing it when I park.

The manual doesn't call out all the reasons why the truck might not kneel, but if the ground is more than a few degrees out from flat, it will not kneel. Some driveways are steep enough to trigger this condition; it doesn't have to be extreme. Also keep in mind that kneeling will pause if you open one of the doors. Do you see the message about kneeling appear in the lower right of the instrument cluster when you put the truck into park?

Sometimes these settings get reverted with updates. Try cycling the setting.

Had the same problem in my Gen1 R1S after the update where the kneel setting wouldn't activate on Park.

I had to drive & cycle the setting twice and now I think it is operating relatively normally again.

This could definitely be it, I have been parking on part of my driveway that is not quite flat and the gravel driveway at our camp is similar. I’ll park somewhere paved tomorrow to see what happens.

My SO seems to want to set some world record on vehicle exit time. She wants the kneel mode but jumps out as soon as the car is parked.

Kneel mode is super slow. I gave up and turned it off cause I was tired of siting there waiting on it.

It sure feels like it takes a long time, don’t open the doors! And I don’t feel like it’s low enough. I’m new but from what I understand if you use sport mode it’s lower than kneel.

I had that Problem. It turned out I had put the suspension on low and kneel only works when in standard.

Yeah, it’s not about being slow or set to low. Only thing I suspect is the fact that it’s often parked on gravel drives up here that are not “flat”. Will test this tomorrow

My driveway has a 5-degree pitch, according to the center screen in off-road mode, and it always kneels down. My sister-in-law's driveway is a little bit steeper and it never kneels in her driveway. I'll have to check the pitch the next time I go over there and find out the threshold of kneel/no kneel.

Get some running boards or sliders and you will not need kneel mode.
