R1S - April 2021 preorder
Bump.

Any updates from folks who have recently matched or taken delivery?

Last VIN posted here is 15,8xx. Insane since mine is 12,xxx and was built in June, so it's like they're building 2,000 per month or more.

We were at 163xx last week. They’re making 75-125 a DAY.

lets be conservative and go with your 2000 figure a month which is 67 per day.

we should be around VIN#: 16,800

EDIT: 75-125 per day

If they're making 125/week, that would mean 500/month (yes, I am great at math). Did you mean per day? I think that's what you meant. There's no way they could have 12,6xx VIN in June and a 16,3xx last week. Mine was definitely manufactured in June, so I think 500/week is actually possible.

I am focused here not to guess how many they'll deliver, but to think about how fast their ramp is going. I think the R1S store will be up and running for most folks by end of year, just like the R1T store.

Apologies I meant 75-125 per day.

The last five digits of the VIN are what people are posting ("x" instead of the last two or three numbers). Since Rivian hasn't made 100,000+ vehicles, it's just the last five as the actual VIN reads "015xxx" as an example.

Hey everyone, new member here. I placed my R1S deposit exactly 1 year ago today, but I still don't have an estimated build date or anything really. Is that normal for 1 year later? What kind of delivery should I be guestimating?

What Rivian has said during their earnings call is that they plan to be complete the pre-March legacy priced orders by the end of the summer (except those live well outside of service centers and those with few other exceptions, like changing to max pack/dual motor or wanting to push out delivery for personal reasons).

Seeing that you are roughly 5 months after March 2021 and clearly new pricing preorder, it would not surprise me if you get your vehicle by the end of the year, if you have a common configuration (i.e., Large pack, non-vinyl dash).

As the production ramps up and people lose their patience and buy something else, or financial situation changes, it is highly likely that preorder sell though rate has dropped noticeably.

Many will say they've waited a long time, very long time but they are counting from when they made the deposit and not when Rivian started production. My preorder to delivery was 21 months but from real production start in a meaningful way (June~July 21), the wait was actually just over a year. Clearly there are people ahead of you but probably not as much as some people think, relatively speaking.

So, there definitely is a waiting time still, the pace of the production has increased significantly so that early buyers wait times are somewhat meaningless going forward.

Hi All - super excited!!! R1S | Limestone | FE | 21" --> 22"
  • Nov - 2021 Order
  • Jan '24 to Mar '24 --> window provided
  • July 17th, 2024 --> Shop Access
  • July 24th, 2023 --> Found my match, Guide Contact, Contract Signed, and VIN 0097XX assigned. Scheduled pick-up 07/28 locally, 8-step process 80% complete.
  • July 25th, 2023 --> Got e-mail stating VIN change, called guide said the car was in the wrong state, the guide found an exact match and assigned new VIN 158XX with the same configuration from the factory.
  • July 27th, 2023 --> Car has left factory e-mail. Waiting for a website or guide contact on the real delivery date.
Few Questions:
  1. Any idea how long it takes to come to Bay Area California from the factory? They said 6-8 weeks.
  2. Any major items I should observe during delivery?
  3. What actually comes with the R1S? ie keys (how many), compressor kit, charger, etc...
This is what I’m speculating has occurred for my shop pick. Assigned VIN likely got given to someone else and now I don’t have the 8 steps anymore, I kept getting error during step 3-4 (registration transfer and Trade in details).
Guide has suggested 8 step was incorrectly assigned. That I’ll see it again once VIN hits factory gate.
I’m ok with older build or newer VIN just in limbo as right now the message is “we’ll update you”

My pre-order of similar build (LA Silver, Blk Mtn interior, 21” wheels) was due for delivery August/September. Saw the Glacier White, Ocean Coast, 21” in shop and pulled the trigger. Now ?‍♂, hopefully I’ll update soon. Don’t mind the wait, just wish there was clearer and consistent communication.
