I bought an adapter to use my Tesla mobile charger with my R1T. The Rivian mobile charger was maxing out at 12mph. The Lectron was giving me up to 15mph originally. Now it fluctuates between 12-14 mph. Not sure why it is fluctuating other than heat impacted. Any suggestions on how to get back to 15mph charge and keep it there?

Ok I'll bite: not an electrician, but the Lectron only passes what the connector provides. And by pases, I mean puts the plastic pieces and wires into a physical format that the R1T can take into it's J1772 port. The connector only provides what the circuit you're on can provide.

You need to look at what circuit you're on for the answer.

Also a factor is your car mode, driving history and usage. Lead feet use more kW/mi and therefore require more kW to get mileage back meaning slower recharge.

Two cents complete.

Currently sitting in my R1t with the tesla mobile connecter and the lectron adapter charging at 16.8mi/hr on a 40 amp breaker via nema 14-50. The tesla mobile connector might be dropping your limit based on what its reading. I know it won't even work if its not grounded.

At home I use the tesla wall adapter/w lectron and I am getting 26.1 mi/hr this is on a 60amp breaker at 48amp set on my wall connector.

Double check the kw/hr charge rate. The mi/hr is based off the drive mode you are currently in. If you are in conserve the mi/hr rate will be higher than if you are in sport mode. kw/hr is a much better reference number than mi/hr as mi/hr can fluctuate based on drive mode.

I posted this before but there are so many questions on charging that it gets lost. So here goes again: I had inconsistent charge rates (amps going up and down) with a Tesla mobile connector and the lectron adapter. I replaced the lectron with a teslatap mini and no more issues.

This illustrates one of the problems with using miles as a proxy for energy. The vehicle is drawing what it wants. The adapter has nothing to do with this. The vehicle can interpret the power it takes in as differing numbers of miles per hr added depending on what it is assuming for consumption. This may vary depending on your recent driving history. There is nothing you can do. The adapter is completely passive. Don't worry about it.

Thanks for all the great advice. I did change back from All Purpose to Conserve mode and it now shows 15.5 mph charging, which is the highest I’ve seen. I’ve learned to ignore the mph and not question my charging rates other than Kw/h.
