This video infuriated me. No mention of Rivian in the truck segment, going so far as to say that the Ford Lightning "kicked off" the current EV truck rush. And including Lordstown. As if that's a major player. Funny they mention the R1S at the end, but left out the R1T

That said, I'm still excited by electrification, and love seeing all these models hitting the market.

I do kinda understand why the Lightning gets mentioned before the Rivian - it is a platform that is beloved in the US so people want to hear about it. But Lordstown? They should not be included on any lists of EVs that will be for sale. They aren’t even taking pre-orders for them. That is just lazy journalism. But if you go to their website they apparently enlisted Joe Burrow to help them sell their imaginary truck?

They are showing vehicles starting delivery in 2022, the R1T started in 2021.

He mentions the R1S because a sham delivery of 2 vehicles to the CEO and CFO in December in their opinion (I actually agree) does not really put them in production last year.

Was interesting that he mentioned but really glossed over the R1S and gave no details about it.

Not gonna watch the video. Did they mention the Hummer? Because GM shipped one of those last year, so if it's a "first shipped in 2022" then that should get excluded too.

No, they mentioned the Chevy Silverado though shipping in 2023…

Not a great video, not really worth watching.

Technically, R1T came out in 21. Frankly, R1S did too.

We are close to a tipping point with BEV’s. I predict by 2025 it won’t make financial sense to purchase an ICE vehicle. I predict battery cell prices will continue to drop and production will be at full swing. We can all give credit to Rivian for starting the BEV pickup revolution in 2021.

Brian has just always had a pretty... "loud" voice. It's been awhile since CNET did a lot of podcasts, but IIRC he started in radio.

Can't say I agree with this prediction. 3 years is a short time away. By then we'll (hopefully) see graphene and Solid State batteries making some sort of debut and although they (according to studies) will grant more energy dense options a lower weights, the costs of these batteries will still be noticeably significant. Financially, to many, keeping or buying a high MPG I.C.E. will still make more sense (especially with certain hybrids hitting 60 MPG). Now, if someone (say like me) has a set up where they charge their vehicle from home for nothing and do not travel often enough to make constant use of chargers on the road on a daily/weekly basis, then having an EV makes more sense. But not everyone had adopted onto such solar setups at their home (or may even be capable of it).

I think ICE engines in some form will be around for a long time, even if it’s only as part of a hybrid design to increase mpg and decrease cost. And as much as I get excited about a future full of electric semi trucks and trains saving the planet, in our lifetimes we can probably only hope to see a change to diesel/ electric hybrids, which could still make a huge impact. In town deliveries like Amazon/ UPS/ FedEx could probably make the switch to electric soon, but even that will take some time.
