LinerX tailgate mat customization

I cut the lower tailgate piece off and sliced it into two so that the most rearward piece was long enough to slide under the flap when it closes. I used double sided 3M VHB tape for the rearmost piece and another type of thin but strong double sided tape for the flap. I'll see how it goes and may consider some screws if the tape doesn't hold up. I would guess that heavy usage would require screws.

That looks great. Any reason not to use VHB in the middle section or was it just what you had laying around? I hate the hanging flap and will copy your idea

VHB won't stick to the carpeting - my other tape did.

Not a great video but it does close smoothly. BTW I did add a few 1/2" black truss head screws to the carpeted flap - even my best double sided tape wouldn't hold up after a couple of warm days. Not surprised since it's a "carpeted" surface.

I wonder if some floor mat Velcro circles would work after bonding to the bottom of the mat. I have a roll of Velcro that’s tape on the other side. May try that. Some screws sound like a good last resort.

Here's a pic with screws installed. Left tape on and used 6 screws. Seems solid.
