The Taycan also starts in the 80K range where as cheap lucid's are 6 figures. Most people aren't buying the 200k dollar Taycan turbo.

Lucid has had a presence here in Vancouver BC for some time now, but what was once a fancy storefront on Robson St, has since just devolved to a service center in the industrial arm of Vancouver. To it's credit it's close to Mercedes and Porsche dealerships, but more tucked away in the back corner, close to Home Depot and if you weren't looking for it, you'd have no idea it was there.
It's a bit sad to see, because the tech Lucid has come up with is quite impressive, but even in Vancouver, where luxury cars abound, and people don't give a second thought to using a Lamborghini or Rolls as their daily, I've still only seen 2 Lucids in the wild, despite the service center/dealership stocked with over a dozen or more.
Lucid pigeon holed themselves into this Luxury touring brand, which may have high profit margins, but are sold in such few numbers, more so because of the more current economic climate, that they'll struggle to capture broad interest and in turn make the necessary sales to survive. Although, we have yet to fully "Discover Gravity" or so the marketing pitch goes.
The Rivian employee that handled our R1T handoff, had worked at lucid previously but left as soon as Rivian opened up shop locally. In his words "he connected more with the brand and company ethos Rivian represented more so than Lucids luxury demographic"

Rivian's only started delivery a couple months ago in Vancouver, I pulled my T alongside a Midnight S yesterday, we gave each other a nod of approval. This morning on my drive to work, passed a Canyon Red T headed downtown. Point is, Rivian's are popping up like crazy here because they nailed the branding and crafted products with broad appeal despite the niche granola munching demographic.

I don't know what happened but at some point people stopped considering sedans. When we had a kid and went to a CRV 12 years ago I don't think I would have gone back to a sedan then.

Child seats happened... and every year they grow in size. Don't get me wrong.. I'm all for child safety, but trying to fit one or more of these monsters in a sedan is a real struggle.. then you still have to put the child in had get them out later on. Additionally, with one or more child seats back there... no room for all the other stuff you need to have (diaper bag, etc...).

Child seats are absolutely enormous. As a #tallperson a sedan or even a small SUV is out of the question for me as I can't put my seat into a comfortable position with a rear facing seat directly behind or in the center. It barely works in a midsize SUV or the R1T.

I just cancelled my order for a Lucid yesterday, after learning that standard DreamDrive doesn't have highway assist.
Pricing is definitely an issue. My R1S reservation is actually at 103,000$ (Canadian). My Lucid reservation, the cheapest Air Pure but with AWD and the upgraded sound system, was 118,000$. To get highway assist would have required the DreamDrive Pro package at 12,000$, coming to 130 grand. Too much.
