Just thought I would give an update. In early May, Rivian decided to allow the sale of their R1s to long time reservation holders like myself, that had the 29% discount voucher, even though there are no Rivian Service Centers nearby. The thing is, these vouchers which were set to expire at the end of 2026, were changed to expire in June of 2025. So we only had 7ish weeks to make our purchases or lose out on our vouchers.

I decided to trade in my 2022 second hand R1T with nearly 80,000 KMs for a brand new 2023 Gen1 R1T quad motor. Basically, the same truck as my second hand one, but with 0 miles on it and a fresh 5 years of warranty. And with my voucher, it was close to a straight up trade. I've had my new R1T for nearly 2 months now and absolutely love it!!

Are there any other new Rivian owners in Manitoba that decided to cash in on their 29% vouchers before they expired last month?

Attached is a picture of my new R1T while off-roading

Did you have to go to Calgary to get it? did they deliver?

Will they send someone out for repairs, or do you have to get to Calgary?

...is that Spruce Woods?

We just cracked our windshield and learned that the closest repair center would be Calgary. Not sure what we would do if it was a catastrophic failure needing immediate replacement. Not sure what your plans are for repair in Winnipeg. Seems untenable.

Yes I drove to Calgary to get it. They will send someone out for repairs that can be done remotely, otherwise I would need to bring it back to Calgary for any major repairs. And yes, that photo was taken in Spruce Woods

Yes, it definitely will be inconvenient. Here's hoping that the repairs are far and few in-between.

Keep in mind that any major repairs that may come up over the next 5 years, while the truck is under warranty, Rivian will transport the vehicle back to Calgary and perform the repairs, all free of charge. Yes, it is still inconvenient, but at least it won't cost anything to get the truck transported and fixed. However, if your Rivian is your only set of wheels, then this would definitely be an issue.
