... Is there like a "block" feature that would let me not have to read any more posts about Tesla and Elon?

Regarding the LiDAR video, the argument is that FSD wasn't enabled and that's why it crashed through the wall? So the hill y'all are going to die on is that Teslas only have functional collision avoidance when your FSD subscription is paid for and enabled..? Stupid argument. Automatic Emergency Braking should always be active and should always brake for stationary obstacles.
No automatic emergency braking system available from any OEM today stops for a fake picture of a wall like it’s Wildin’ Coyote. It was a Lexus with an added aftermarket LIDAR unit strapped to the top that stopped for it, bc he was pumping up a now bankrupt LIDAR company.

Agreed, there are levels to everything. My use of hyperbole in this thread was intentional, as it draws a reaction to persons the majority on this forum seem to dislike, even vehemently dislike.

If we are going to parse through Mark Rober and say the good outweighs the bad then that's fine, but we must keep that nuance when discussing Elon Musk for example. He after all is the sole reason EV's exist in USA or even the world for that matter. He was the sole driver for making EV's possible.

Without him the global automotive landscape would look entirely different today. If you look at the sheer scale of production, the charging infrastructure, and the cultural shift that made EV's highly desirable rather than an environmental compromise, no single individual has done more to accelerate us to where we are today than him.

If (proverbial) you don't believe that, I would suggest taking a look at the color of the tint on your glasses. No one has done more than him in that regard.
I like pre-2020 Elon still. I like everything he started. I just don’t like him at all anymore.

I'm pretty sure that timeline is wrong, and if so, then the whole post is wrong. I admire your humor, however. I *think* the lying Robotaxi videos came after the lying Rober fakery, but I'm not sure, and suddenly I find myself totally out of fucks to google it.

Also, we've all known that Musk is a lying weasel, always has been. I can't imagine that's even a question for anyone.
It is a little difficult to track. There are three most obvious examples of lying robotaxi (and FSD) videos
The "Paint It Black" Promotional Video
October 2016
Autonomy Day Demonstration
April 2019
Cybercab Reveal at Warner Bros. Studios
October 2024

When it comes to staged and faked stock-pumping autonomy videos and claims there are many things from which to choose over the past decade. (Just ask the lawyers who won a $300 million judgement!)

Dude if it really was 1930’s Germany they would have already found you and you’d be in a camp or dead for this post alone. It’s hyperbole plain and simple. Ironically they’re doing this in 2026 Germany and UK for mean things said about politicians. Or maybe you’ve not heard?
No, because our government is playing out the 1930's playbook. Maybe you're blind. Seriously. Go read project 2025 and compare it to everything that happened under Nazi rule and everything happening today.

Grace is for those who make mistakes in life and show contrition for their actions, not those who intentionally mislead others with no apology or remorse. He knew exactly what he was doing and he did it anyway.

People hate Elon Musk for being Republican and having different views than liberals. Maybe they should give him "grace" too.

"Eyes of the beholder" as it were.
No. People hate Elon because he's an asshole

Only the first one was a lie. Autonomy day was nothing more than to demonstrate what tesla was working on. The cybercab reval was just to show a car that they had built for autonomy and to give rides.

I honestly don't think mark rober was pumping any stock. He basically agreed to make a video demonstrating lidar vs cameras (maybe he was paid to do this) and I believe he genuinely did not know the difference between autopilot and FSD. More namely he did not understand that autopilot is designed to run primitive neural networks that can run on the AP2 computer

You know what? People hate Elon Musk because he caused hundreds of thousands of hard-working, tax-paying American citizens to lose their jobs through no fault of their own. Including many of my friends. Including me. Check yourself.

Don't bother responding. Blocking.

It's not even applicable to the scenario he's using it for
So you're saying Tesla shouldn't allow the system to have been engaged then, right?
If that wasn't bad enough, he also disengaged Autopilot before hitting the wall, which can seen on the car screen at the 15:42 mark.
IIRC, Tesla has played misleading number games by saying vehicles haven't gotten in wrecks with FSD because FSD was shut off a split second before the wreck. Your rage over a youtube video being significantly more than your rage toward Tesla for facilitating improper use of their systems resulting in accidents and deaths is telling.
You think Elon Musk in the early days was doing it for profit? Tesla almost went bankrupt numerous times in it's history. They almost bounced payroll multiple times. Go back and watch his early videos.
Elon's goal is to maximize his net worth. It has been his goal. He has historically intentionally run Tesla with minimal cash specifically to pressure his employs. Just because Tesla was short on cash at times does not mean the intent wasn't to make money.

Well I got laid off in corporate America 2 years ago too. People lose jobs all the time in the real world "through no fault of their own". Gov't workers aren't exempt from downsizing.

Check your privilege before trying to check others.
