If you use the data on the EPA site, it looks like the max pack is 175 kWh. A year or more ago, Rivian was saying the max pack would be 180 kWh. But at 175 kWh, the estimated range for the max pack sense when using the large pack EPA figures.

1695844287851.webp

43 kWh/100 miles = 2.32 mi/kWh
352 miles of range / 2.32 = 152 kWh
410 miles of range / 2.32 = 177 kWh

Or another way
78 MPGe x 150 kWh / 33.7 kWh = 347 miles of range
78 MPGe x 175 kWh / 33.7 kWh = 405 miles of range

Seems like 175 kWh usable pack to me. I am super excited to see if this plays out in real world testing. But using EPA figures:
74 MPGe x 175 kWh / 33.7 kWh = 384 miles of range on the highway.

I expect at 80 mph, we won't see 384 miles of range. Maybe 350?
No way that's accurate info.

I really hope this is true but I would have expected Rivian to provide more details about the max pack other than to just say it’s more energy dense before it actually gets released. Regardless, I hope it’s true and my December 2023 estimated delivery date is a legit possibility.
Because they walked back on their promises. If there's one thing that Tesla taught us it's that bad news is best left to speculate on until someone else delivers it. Unfortunately that's also the most unfair and most frustrating to he consumer.

So help me understand this. Some dude somewhere on the internet has a confirmed delivery of a dual-max-pack, yet Rivian has decided to do no press or announcements on this milestone.

Yeah…this is click-bait for sure.
Welcome to the Internet?

I’ve been asked to lock in my config also.
I’m happy with my quad motor LE with ATs and powered tonneau. Originally I was considering buying the max pack and selling my older 1, but then they went from quad to dual, removed the tonneau and I realized I really like having the ATs.
The main reason I wanted the max pack was longer range in places like Northern British Columbia where there are real charging desserts, but I was hoping for at least 450 mile rang and I really don’t want the 21s. Note I am planning on driving up to Alaska next summer.
Also note that BC hydro and hopefully others are looking to fill in some of those charging desserts.

You are correct.

If you read the posts after mine, you will see I did not remember the large pack size is not 150 kWh, but is 130 kWh. It was also pointed out that charging losses make it difficult to use EPA published figures to estimate capacity, but it seems it is more than charging losses. Typical L2 losses are 10-11%, and DCFC are lower. The errors in my calculations are more than 10%. But what can you expect from a government agency? Accuracy? Obviously not.

This is my first post. I confirmed my Max Pack configuration today. Whatever KWh the Max Pack has, I hope it's worth it!
Do you lose access to the Shop after you confirm?

I have not lost access to the shop.
No. I confirmed and still have shop access.
If/when you lose access, would you report back?

I'm (slightly) surprised they want you (us!) to commit to the Max Pack, but still give you (us!) the opportunity to buy something else. That said, maybe they really don't sweat it until the production schedule is etched in Rivian's version of stone.

I prefer having shop access up until the VIN is confirmed. I am open to different colors/upholstery if it means I can get the truck earlier.
