Media Missing in 2025.30: Anyone else having gear-guard issues with gen2?

Before I go nuclear, can anyone tell me if they have experienced this on their gen2 R1?

Background: Just got truck back from service for camera and recording issues, and I'm completely unconvinced that things are resolved. If this is an issue with all/many/some gen2's then I suppose I'll bite my tounge, but this just seems wrong to be 'normal'. Following an infotainment reboot I was able to access the recordings, but things dont seem to bode well.

Yes, I had the same issue ... happened about a month ago ... motion cam only ... Other videos worked. Did a reboot and the problem was resolved and has not returned. But it did not record anything on the motion cam for the period it was frozen (about 5 days).

Do you also have either or both of the following:

1) missing footage as well - ie clips showing as deleted that were simply never recorded?
2) jumps in the recordings - ie missing seconds within them?

This appears to be a common issue. Same experience with my gen 1. Only happened after last OTA update. Both resets fixed it - for like a day.

Our gen1 has been immune to this - out gen2 was just in service for camera issues (which found a camera with water ingress as well as issues on the AXM's internal ssd) - unfortualy with the new update now applied its gone from being an annoyance to pervasive - resets in our gen 2 last less than 15 minutes before its back to media is offline. Additionally we still have clips missing within a motion camera incident - which was one of the reasons it was in for service in the 1st place.

Seems like the resounding sentiment is that gear-guard is not happy for several folks ATM - and this isis a 'tribal knowlege' known issue. This give me an idea: @Rivian Roamer/@Kryptonlogic - you folks ever thought about a bug tracker for Rivian issues - would really help cut through the number of requests like mine here? I'd be happy to contribute code/host

I have something about 3/4 done just like this!

People who have linked their accounts will be able to report bugs and request features. It'll even tie it back to your installed OTA version and notify you when bugs are fixed.

My priority has been getting telematics out to everyone but this is second on the list.

This is awesome, not sure what your stack is internally, I'm mostly infrastructure focused - but happy to help in any way I can!

The release notes are becoming increasingly obvious as just marking fluff - e.g. in the last month alone we saw the media do pieces one do a video on how 2025.26 was 'all about bug fixes and stability' when in fact it was the single biggest software shift in Rivian vehicles EVER - from Mobileye to in house Highway Assist. and a step towards the goals set prior to even the 1st R1's rolling off the line.

2025.26:

• `Fixed an issue that kept Gear Guard thumbnails and videos from displaying properly on the Motion Cam and Incidents screens (Gen 2)`

2025.34

• `Fixed an issue that kept Gear Guard video thumbnails from displaying properly on the Motion Cam and Incidents screens.`

Rivian have now reached out - and they have confirmed that they think this is a software issue on top of the hardware issues they also identified with the Cameras and DTC from the SSD in the AXM - and ACK that gear-guard footage is missing (rather than just being a display issue) and that additionally camera blending and corruption is a known issue - all supposedly fixed in 2025.34.

Update - they have found my truck has a faulty AXM - and so are replacing it (again!). This was not a software issue alone.

The thing that really worries me about this for all of us is that the ‘SSD’ (eMMC?) is *not* replaceable in the AXM for gen2 - does this mean we are all sitting on time bombs? @Kryptonlogic / @mpshizzle ?
