nice find.

Also total garbage. I *really* hate companies throwing up hurdles like that. At least you can cancel at ford with the click of the button.

It has a step.
Is that for Cute or ground clearance?
Makes me think it must be tall enough to need it.

Didn't think it would make me question if the R1T was right for me or not, but depending on the price of the regular RST (or timeline for the TrailBoss), it might make the decision/justification for the Rivian hard.

I put in a reservation as a backup plan, etc. on the WT/RST. As someone else said, not paying $100k for a GM product, after owning a number of them over the years. They don't deserve that level of faith in their products.

Well I passed on reserving…. It would not let me reserve with the dealership I want that I know won’t screw me. Other than that, I’m not interested in reserving yet another EV for $100K+ that’s 2 years out and have to deal with the legacy dealer model. Nope.

fyi, if you want a refund on your deposit, you have to ask for it from the selected dealer. 2024 for non-RST trims.
Was going to put down a deposit until I saw this, I'm not calling the dealer to get my money back. Plus mid 2024 for regular trims probably means 2025 and that's much too long of a wait.

I made the same decision. Seems like a neat truck, but it'll be 2 years before I could get it most likely. No need for me to reserve early.

Measly $100 so I reserved (#161456) a regular EV-Silverado work truck option.
I know the 400-mile battery equipped won't be $40k, but maybe less than $55?
LOL.
Wait, you're serious? Not gonna happen. If the F150L has shown, it's gonna be at least 70k-80k for a 400 mile range version. Because, they will have enough demand for it.

lol. Why the hell don't they just say that when reserving? I bailed mid-reservation after seeing the page that says $100, and looking at the fine print it said I'd have to call the dealer. Well, that's good to hear at least.

I think people are in for an unpleasant surprise re: the specs on the $39,900 trim ("for some buyers.") Like, sub-200-mile-range, two-wheel-drive surprise.

Overall the full spec deal looks pretty solid. Too big for my tastes but I really like the midgate and honestly would (reluctantly) take that over the gear tunnel in the Rivian if I had a choice - it would make passthrough-entry campers and climate an option for camping, which would be super awesome. And the four-wheel steering mitigates the size nicely.

But, huge caveats:
  1. It's just not price competitive for the specs. I think people are going to be shocked at how quickly things fall off below $100k.
  2. It's too late to market.
  3. I don't see how it competes with Ford for work buyers (hugely compromised bed for worksite utility), how it competes with Rivian/Cybertruck/Tacoma for "adventure" buyers (mediocre offroad geometry, compromised bed sides, too expensive, not differentiated from Hummer EV), and it's not enough of a standout as a "luxury" to justify the price.
Honestly the only buyer I can see that it would be a clear slam-dunk for is long-range towing/hauling with heavy or ungainly loads where the tow capacity and midgate are an advantage. Everyone else would be better served by a different offering.

I am curious if their reservation numbers are sequential? I have ID 214831 and that was completed within 5 minutes of reservations opening. If so, they will have a few hundred thousand reservations on day 1!
