Has anyone else had this happen?
Driving along the interstate with cruise control on, listening to 'Tune-in' with light traffic. Suddenly there is an alert or alarm tone heard, a red box appears on my screen but disappears before I had a chance to read it and then both screens go blank except for the speed is still indicated. I was able to keep on driving and then gradually all functions returned and have worked fine since then.
Took it in to service and they were able to find the event in the log but had no real explanation as to what happened other than it seems the system just decided to reboot.
It is a little alarming and concerning as I am about to start a trip of over 2000 miles one way with driving around there before returning.
The trip will also require me to try out the tesla supercharger

Yep. I've had the UI 'reboot' on its own twice now, while driving. Very concerning but no errors after the reboot. Haven't submitted a ticket yet.

I've had it happened once, just a software error that forced the system to reboot.

Also once, mine was just after a software update and figured it was related. I actually had the opposite reaction as you... Very happy that whatever bug or watchdog that triggered the restart had zero impact on critical drive systems. I felt safer knowing the UI and associated systems are segregated from critical ECUs. My Chrysler minivan infotainment crashes about once a week so honestly not concerned at all

I don't know if you were implying that using "Tune in" was related to this or not. I use only Bluetooth streaming from a phone, and have never seen something like this. I've only got a couple thousand miles on this vehicle. Having the infotainment reboot won't affect driving and shouldn't be a source of anxiety for your trip.

Thanks for the replies. I did take it in to service and they found no problems. I will now start the trip to western Canada and may even get to Vancouver Island. And to Jon, I do not expect to get back to Whidbey island this trip so if you go to the bar on the bay, have a pail of mussels. You live in a beautiful area.
