Missing upper door hinge bolt - what size?

Does anyone know the size of the bolt in the upper hinge of driver side front door? Mine is missing. Question is whether it’s always been missing or is now missing post service where they fixed cracked door pocket and replaced my Bluetooth module. I attached the passenger side door hung for reference too.

It happened to my R1s but I saw the bolt fell off the passenger front door. I have Rivian technician put it back when doing a maintenance couple weeks ago.

Well, pretty easy to figure out then test. Find the metric socket that fits the hex head of the bolt that's still there on the other door. I think you'll find that it's 13mm. Pretty likely then that the bolt is M8. Next is thread pitch. It's either fine (.75) or coarse (1.25). In this application I'd bet 10:1 that it's coarse. Next is length. Take a small screwdriver, tooth pick, or something and gently feel for the depth of the hole. There's your length (round down to the nearest standard metric length you find at Lowes or Home Depot or the Auto parts store. And, since the big ass washer is probably gone, you'll need one.

That'll probably get you squared away until your next service visit where you can have Rivian service replace it with an OEM one (in case they're using some high spec material).

Thank you guys for helping me identify the correct bolt. I was in the service center recently and asked them to address this. I got the unfortunate response that they couldn't install the bolt and that it wasn't really necessary. It was getting late so I didn't really feel like making this a bigger deal. I'm gonna guess that the thread is likely stripped in the nut or sleeve in the hinge. I'll likely try to install this myself with a friend to lift the door to take some weight off the hinge. I'll keep everyone posted.

Chase it with a tap first since you now have the size and pitch, usually a good idea on painted parts regardless.
