Have you towed with the Rivian?
If towing within the range constraints of the Rivian I would say it tows significantly better than my outgoing 5.7L Tundra & that is with the R1S.
Yes, tried to tow a horse trailer. It sucked. Sure, torque was great, ride was pretty good but range tanked. For long journey's I would never consider using the R1T.

My advice would be, don't wait for the Rivian. If you're hauling stuff, it'll be much cheaper, way more reliable and less stressful to get yourself a decent ICE truck. Rivian ain't for hauling. It's for middle class adventure wannabees (I include myself in this category).

50/50 of you have pre-March pricing but personally I'd get a decent Ford/Toyota/Chevy that'll do the job way better. Yes, you'll hear folks saying how much you save on gas, but they keep quiet about how much more insurance is (and repairs) and how public charges are shit. If i lived in the mountains, no way.
I live in the mountains, where the poster lives, and I love my rivian. Ultra quite when passing folks on a 6% grade, handles snow great, no oil changes, drives mostly hands free into SLC. I go into the backcountry regularly, haven’t had any issues. I don’t hit the trails 300miles from my house anymore…need some more chargers out in BFE. For the towing, if I was towing 100+ miles from home…i’d also go with an ICE regardless of the DC Charger infrastructure…as I think I’d get pretty frustrated dealing with the trailer at the charger stall. I just wouldn’t broadly say mountains equal “no way” to a rivian…just depends on the use case
