Multiple music bugs

I didn’t find a comprehensive thread so I’d like to see if we can document all the music related bugs in one place. I figure if we can’t get CarPlay then we should at least have a working music app.

I’ll start with the six that bug me the most:

1) album art from another app doesn’t refresh when playing music from a 2nd app. See screenshot. I was playing an Album by Cake on YouTube music, then switched to playing a song by Jackson Browne on Apple Music. Album cover stayed at Cake …

2) often times the music app will show my last played album from Apple Music. But clicking play does nothing.

3) music app still has an issue where it mutes out and I have to switch to another music app like TUNEIN and switch back to get audio back.

4) not a bug, but a quality issue is, when I stop the car and open the door, even though the phone is still in the car, the audio quality drops tremendously when using Bluetooth. Also it seems to take a few seconds when I start before the Bluetooth stream quality improves.

5) if Ieave the car, but leave me phone in the car, the music will stop playing even though there are other passengers in the car. Only fix here is to keep my seatbelt buckled.

6) Alexa cannot seem to understand any of my music related commands consistently

I've experienced 1 and 6. Regarding Alexa, I've noticed that it gets confused by the word 'on' but likes 'from' in this context: "Alexa, play Comfort Eagle from Pandora".

The Alexa integration for Pandora has worked pretty well even though we just started using Alexa for the first time and it has only been trained with my wife's voice. It's been working well enough I haven't bothered with Bluetooth streaming much.

I am really looking forward to being able to play mp3s from a USB-C thumb drive.

Yeah, if there was a youtube music app then I wouldn't need the blutooth streaming, but then if I had CarPlay I wouldn't have any of these complaints

I have all these problems too except Alexa. It’s a voice assistant and I will not have it aboard my ship.

There's no Pandora integration either, but if you link your Pandora account to Alexa then you can play using voice commands. I would think you could do the same for YouTube Music. But I'm new to Alexa so I don't know if you can for sure.

I also hate how the current playlist goes away and doesn’t come back if you switch audio sources…it will still play, but if you want to see the playlist to preview songs, etc. you have to go and find that Spotify or Apple playlist again….so annoying!

1.) You used to be able to select between your FM radio favorites using the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel, but a recent update broke that.

2.) The FM radio station you select doesn't always show up correctly in the right most UI display along with the pop up over the left of the speedometer.

3.) The FM Radio pop up over the left of the speedometer is annoying because sometimes it doesn't disappear and will keep popping up even when the station hasn't changed nor the song. I wish there was a way to turn this off as it blocks other info.

4.) The Spotify favorites is limited to 50 songs, but other playlists are not. So I have to create another playlist to get around that weird limitation.

5.) Spotify sounds noticeably softer than FM radio so I have to turn up the volume.

I’m having a lot of problems with album art not matching. I’m using the stock music app on my iPhone. In the music app in the R1T, the two images don’t match. What’s worse is that’s not even the right album art for the song being played

This has been an issue for a very long time and for whatever reason Rivian has not yet addressed it. Not sure if it is an especially difficult problem they are encountering, but with the number of times it has been discussed here they have to be aware of it.

I get the album art and it showing that the radio is playing, when I am actually using Amazon Music...

I did not have many issues with Spotify at all but since starting to use Tidal I've seen a lot more issues. Mostly songs restarting halfway through and skipping directly to the next mid song.

Honestly the Tidal app doesn't seem fully baked out, it feels very much like a Beta. Not sure who it's on (Rivian or Tidal) to get it fixed.

I have a lot of these same issues. Toggling to radio then back to the phone icon seems to fix most for me.
For music, I use Apple Music via bluetooth and just say "hey Siri, play..." and it works quite well.

I've noticed the album art issue as well but I'm also having a problem with Spotify not allowing me to change the media quality. If I go into Spotify settings I can see the media quality button but pressing it does nothing.
