If someone hunger strikes over a vehicle, they have way too much time and not enough fast food around them.
It only lasted a day, but it did happen and it was in part due to quality issues.

I read the article on Electek. It was the lamest hunger strike effort Ive ever heard of.

It was a group of like 16 people who also parked thier Teslas in a fashion to read, "HELP". They got bored... and went home I bet.

I will give them that we're talking about it and it was written in articles galore. Did Elon acknowledge it though?

Elon made some sort of nasty tweet about "I'm considering fasting" as he was told about it's beneficial health effects by a friend.

Off topic, kind of… but, he’s right. I started fasting at times and dropped tons of weight, blood pressure went back to normal, etc. ?

I traded in my 2018 Model 3 Performance in on the 2022 Rivian R1T. Before I had the Model 3 I had a 2015 Model S which is still one of my favorite vehicles (on par with the Porsche Cayman S which I really loved).

What I find interesting about the Tesla Model 3 was that it was a great car, but I felt like the company itself is at war with the customers.

The lack of customer engagement
The lack of thought of what a customer would think when making drastic changes like ditching radar, and going with Vision only or that disgrace that was the V11 UI.
The whole Safety Score which was complete nonsense.
Removing the feature where the lights would turn on during the rain during the day. WTF?

There wasn't a whole lot of innovation from 2018 to 2022 aside from the Model S which they put the price into the stratosphere, and did the dumb yoke thing.

I'm not sure how long I'll be a non-Tesla customer because all it takes is the right vehicle with the right features at the right price. I never had any reliability issues, and the Supercharger network is absolutely top notch when it comes to reliability.

The R1T isn't quite the right vehicle (it's a bit on the big side for me), but its definitely the right price. In fact I think the R1T was a bit of a no-brainer due to the price actually being low (for pre-march reservation holders).

What I learned from my Tesla adventures is I really enjoy traveling with an EV. Maybe its as simple taking a break every few hours. In any event that's what I like doing, and obviously the R1T is ideal for adventuring in.

So I toss my inflatable paddle board, my folding Kayak, and my electric longboard in it and off adventuring I go. I also seem to be using the gear tunnel as a shoe rack, and the tunnel door as a place to sit while changing shoes. One has to have paddle board shoes, hiking shoes, skate shoes, walking shoes, and dinner date shoes.

I'm even considering an RTT tent which is just completely "what am I thinking????" because I can count on one hand how many times I've been camping (outside of an Camper Van which I also have). There is just something appealing about staying in a hotel one night. and a campground the next.

New guy and Tesla owner here.

To date, Ive owned two Model 3's, a Model Y Performance, and now a Model S LR Refresh. My wife owns a Model Y LR as well. Im ready for a change and Rivian was it.

I initially ordered a R1S, on 8/31/22 but that wait would pretty much murder my brain. Id assume it to be a good way, at least a year +. So, after debating with the wife on pros and cons of going to a truck, we figure a R1T will suit our needs better.

Main points were the kids are getting older, so no need for three rows. The gear tunnel seems legit. The biggest, Ive never owned a truck. Figure if I dislike it, Ill sell it for the R1S down the road.

Hope I get a golden ticket to check out the inventory shortly. I know Im a new order, and there are tons of you ahead, but hey.... I gotta have faith! HA!

Hows everyone like their R1T's? Any Tesla converts like me?
I originally ordered an R1S in 2019 but was eventually told I would get an R1T much faster so I switched. I traded in my model 3 performance which up until the R1T was the best vehicle I've ever owned and I have owned a lot of cars. Before the R1T my largest vehicle was a Lexus GX and coming out of a model 3 the R1T was huge but eventually you get used to the size. This is my first ever pick up truck but you don't feel like you're driving a large vehicle once you get the feel and you know you are driving a well built (maybe overbuilt) state of the art machine. Yes Rivian still has some catching up to do with Tesla but I'm confident R.J will catch up VIA software updates. You will not be disappointed when you get your truck.

Sadly, Rhode Island is completely trash with their tax incentives for trade ins. I cannot trade in and get any taxes off for the trade due to going from a car to a pickup truck. I would be on the hook for like 7k in taxes. That makes it completely not worth it to me.

Too bad, Illinois used to limit the amount of tax savings on a trade to a max of $10,000 value. In other words if you traded in a car worth 30K you would only receive 10K trade in value for sales tax purposes. The car dealer lobby got it changed this year back to full trade in value so my 2019 Tesla trade saved me about $3600 in taxes. Plus the fed $7500 tax credit and Illinois has a $4000 EV rebate (if I ever see it being Illinois) made buying the R1T an easy decision. Unfortunately the new law may exclude Rivian from a fed tax credit because it is over the max price point.
