I wonder if Europeans got this right - their chargers don't come with charging cables, car owners must bring their own.
Only true for level 1 and 2 charging. DCFC chargers worldwide have cables attached.

Oh, good point. Having to carry a bulky CCS cable would be a pain.

Yes for NACS Level 1 and 2. No for DCFC. I think the Tesla supercharger cables for the versions a Rivian can use are liquid cooled.

No, pretty much all DCFC cables are liquid cooled. It's theoretically possible, but the charge rate would always been crippled by cable temperatures.
