Nav Map Townships

In Illinois no one ever refers to what township they are in. Multiple towns and cities are in each township.

When I search for things like a post office, it tells me the township, but not the town or city. This is odd. I have never seen this in an online map.

In the above mentioned search, our township has many post offices, I had to guess by the street name or refer to the map to figure out which office was in which town.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Agreed! This is a current Rivian mapping configuration issue/feature. I have asked for an update from my Rivian Guide too.

Nobody commonly refers to townships (in Illinois). I had to check and only 20 states have townships. No mapping service defaults to township and I do not believe people commonly mail something to an address without the city.

Rivian, please provide an update to default the map address to use city.

This is not a Rivian issue. MapBox provides the mapping data for Rivian. If you have an issue with the map in anyway, report it here.

I think there is a good chance that since I bought a Rivian vs subscripting directly to MapBox means they will listen to Rivian first. Rivian picked this mapping solution and is partnering with them so again, always best to follow the money.

After checking the link provided, the site support mainly for the subscriber and not the user. That said, their mapping shows city and not township.

Many many of us got generic responses from Rivian along the lines of "This is a MapBox issue, sorry" which is why we go through the link provided.
The link is not specific to either subscriber or user. I just edited something 2 minutes ago.

I'm no software engineer but would seem odd that Mapbox would have omitted all the city and town names in Illinois in their database. Seems more likely to me that Rivian software is pulling from the incorrect data group or column in the MapBox database but who knows.

Does this happen in NC too?

I will send feedback to both companies.
