I noticed on the Rivian maps there is little yellow icon on certain cities that disappear when you zoom in.

The YELLOW diamonds are future RAN chargers (DCFC), I don't know (or seen) the other yellow icons.

Here is a map of all the Rivian station

RAN (Rivian Adventure Network) - Google My Maps

I did look at the map and noticed this town....they really need one there just because of the name.

It's possible, but I doubt it. I think it's just the map platform highlighting some random towns based on unknown criteria. West Yellowstone and Gardiner were on the original strategic plan, but Cody was not.

Checking another area, there are pins like above in Florence, AL and Clarksville, TN that don't match the strategic plan. And going the other direction, there is no pin like that for Asheville, NC, but Asheville is on the original strategic plan.

EDIT TO ADD: Just experimented a little, and I'm pretty sure it's just a function of zoom level and placement. See, for example, these two towns in NC that have that pin shape when they're near the edge of the map but lose it as soon as I put them closer to center. And if I zoom out, Concord disappears, but Kannapolis regains the pin style. And looky there... Asheville has the pin now... Yeah, it's just a function of zoom, town size, and location within the web map.
