Need a bed mat that's rugged, thick and heavy

Hi all,

Need a bed mat that is rugged. Something thick and heavy. I’ve had a rough country bed mat in the past with my Ram but not finding anything that is rugged. Finding a lot of thin bed mats with tons of ribs which is gonna to suck keeping it clean. Something that is 3/8 thick??? If you found something let me know

Unhelpfully, I can't for the life of me remember where i got it but I'm pretty sure it came from a recommendation on this Forum.

Had it since Dec '22 and it's brilliant. 3/8" rubber. Hard wearing. Not a mark on the bed underneath. Also cut to shape of R1T bed.

A search of the forum for "bed mat" brings up a lot of results - did you look through those? Lots of people have shared their solutions.

The one I remember was a horse stall mat from Tractor Supply which was 1" thick - should be plenty rugged for most needs.

I personally don't have a need for a mat. A cheap tarp works great if you're going to haul loose material like soil or mulch - it keeps stuff out of the cracks and lets you clean the bed quickly.

Yup. I use the horse mat from tractor supply. Requires a single cut and is textured and very grippy. Has served me well for over two years. they have them on sale occasionally.

Definitely rugged thick and heavy… cuz I like my bed mat like I like my… you know what I’ll just show myself out now.

Everything you need to make your own here. Get a Black Armor universal mat and cut to size. Super easy and as heavy duty as you can get. The following thread has a link to a sketchup file that I made way way back when there were no mat option at all. It has all the dimensions to cut an exact fit regardless of which mat you choose. Hey Boss- here is a suggestion. Go to farm supply store and take a look at stall mats. I have used them for years. But—- they are heavy. If you want to take it out and clean daily , forget it- to much of an inconvenience.

Also Home Depot has 3/8" thick rubber matting very strong.

I really like this one (I have a GFC camper installed). Was the cut to fit fairly straight forward?

Same here bought mine at farm and fleet for $60 three years ago. About 1” thick and almost too heavy for one person to handle. Can’t hurt it.

Correct, it is a 2 person task to put it in the bed. Except for muscle folks..
