Picked up my fourth Rivian this past week - a 2025 Rivian R1S. Not off to a great start. After encountering the maps/GPS issue (where the GPS thinks the R1S is somewhere else), I performed the full reset which is the only way to fix this issue (hold left button plus emergency flasher button).

After doing that, it fixed the map/gps issue, but no longer displayed the two phones as keys as mapped to the vehicle in the display. My phone kept working but my daughter's phone kept prompting her to finish the setup which would just hang on bluetooth.

So I deleted our phones as bluetooth devices and removed the two keys as keys for the vehicle from the Rivian app. Once I did that, I was able to get my daughter's phone repaired, but mine now hangs on the "waiting for bluetooth". More annoyingly it will show the phone as key as added but my app says it is not. I tried deleting the rivian app on my phone but that doesn't work. I am super annoyed - have never had this issue with my other three quad motor 2024s....and I am not waiting a month for the first available appt. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

There is another thread that just started regarding bluetooth audio phone call problems after the latest update. Is your new rivian on the newest software? Both of these problems could be related to bluetooth issues from the latest software update

I think I would summarize my issue as Gen 2 (refresh) 2025 R1S - after hard reset (left button + emergency flashers). Upon completing that reset, the phones as key disappear and if you attempt to delete and reinstall - they might not repair. That I think is a Rivian issue. The second issue is when I attempt to delete and re-pair, I am running into an issue where the Rivian can't complete the phone as key process because at the step where you wait for bluetooth prompt on the phone - it never appears. If I go to my bluetooth settings I can see the phone is connected to the Rivian key - but it doesn't give me an option to disconnect - no "I" button. So I think my issue is now something is corrupted and so I can't repair my phone as a key. But this all stems from Rivian changing something in the hard reset process that makes phones as key disappear. My daughter's phone no longer shows as paired in the 2025 Rivian, but her phone say it is paired and she can use the phone to open and start the vehicle. My phone won't complete the setup so I can't use my phone as key in her new 2025. This is pretty poor tech and I love my Rivians - my 2024s (3) are all solid with virtually no issues. So I am not happy!

I had this issue once, but deleting the phone from the truck and repairing it solved it for me. If the phone is visible in the truck try reassigning it first to another user, moving it back and then deleting it. I remember something about having to reassign it.

Also, it's worth noting that for tech issues like this instead of just scheduling a service center visit they will attempt to troubleshoot it over the phone and that has helped me with past issues. If you haven't tried that it would be worth a shot.

Just spent 45 min on phone with Rivian, no luck.....

How do you reassign a phone? It's visible but claims it's not setup.

Yeah, I had this issue with my `25 R1T. It's a known bug - essentially the list of keys on the server gets out of sync with list of keys in the car and you can't get your phone back in as a key. They rolled a truck (two actually) to my house and resolved it. They connected a laptop to the car via the ethernet jack under the dash and then a software engineer in Illinois opened a remote terminal session to resync the lists (arrays). They said they were working on an easier automated fix for others that may have the issue in the future.

Can they do this remotely if I call?

I think when I clicked on the reassign it just let me, not didn't claim it wasn't setup. To tell the truth this was like 6 months ago when it happened to me so I am not completely sure how I did the reassigning just that I had to.
