We traded our three-year-old 2022 canyon red R1T in on a 2025 tri max yesterday. I think we got one of the last 2025's and it had the promotion with free paint, off road all terrain package and max pack all included. My question for all of you that have had these for a while is the range shows 293 miles at 100% in all purpose. On the website it shows 329 for 20 inch wheels at 100%. I asked the salesperson and he said it would come up with my driving habits. It was 1 decree out so I thought that might affect it too. In our 2022 at 100% it always went to stated range of 319 in all-purpose with 21 inch wheels regardless of temperature. Is this normal and will it adjust as I drive more?

I would ask them to reset the range calculation. I had them do that on mine after a battery replacement and it fixed it. Only service center can do that reset apparently

Normal. There is no 329 mile range driving mode, see here for an explanation with 22" wheels - but the same applies for all sizes: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/mkbhd-gen2-r1s-review.40386/post-728366

Also rivian as of today makes NO adjustment for driving habits etc - it's all just a fixed multiplier for a driving mode against the SoE in the battery. The reset button in the energy app only puts a timestamp marker on your telemetry - nothing more (confirmed in writing Q3 2025, however of course this may change in the future).

Edit: see page 27 here for where the 293 you see displayed comes from: https://dis.epa.gov/otaqpub/display_file.jsp?docid=61445&flag=1

Thanks for the clarification. I will be curious how it does for efficiency compared to my 21 inch wheels on my last R1T. I know it will be less but I am thinking not a lot less with the heat pump at least in winter.

21 > All other sizes

We have 4 solid tire options now. The 21's generally get the best range.

Don't expect the heat pump to make any real efficiency differences (unless winter is mid 50's where you are - and even then doubtful). The wheels/tires are the major factors here.

I just got my Tri Max with 20” AT’s as well. With the cold temps my AP estimate is right there at 293 as well. My conserve does go to 351 as I noted when I picked up and it was a warm 43F that day, haha. My experience has always been (Rivian and Tesla before this) that range is pretty well within the EPA estimate until it goes below 40, then, when it goes below 20F consistently you take a big hit.

I think they defaulted the Tri to always AWD. Is there a conserve mode? It's supposed to switch off the rear motors like the DM when not needed. That should be a different EPA value. This would be different than the Bosch Quad where conserve is always FWD.

Yep, there is a conserve mode that turns off the rear motors after you hit 25mph or so. On sport tires I get about 350 miles in AP mode and 405mi in conserve.

I have a '25 Tri-motor with 20" wheels. In All-Purpose it consistently shows 308 miles at 100% SoC, regardless of weather or recent driving conditions. Similarly, Conserve mode will consistently show 352 miles on a full charge.

Adventure on!
