Did someone verify the sizes? I saw a set unmounted the other day and they were 335 rears if remember right , but I'll try to get a pic to verify. Those staggered wheels/ tires will be needed if you plan on hitting the 1/4 mile times that they were getting during the press test drives a few months back. The standard 22" scorpions get scorched at launch and can't handle all the torque.

I think Hammoud misspoke, he said front is 1" wider than rear (most likely the other way around). 275 F/305 R.

Okay... these are the sizes

315/35/22 XL rear
275/40/22 XL front

About $750 - $1000 ea for the rears ?

Dang. 20% less sidewall in the front. Unless rivian lets us put in that size when they eventually allow us to switch wheel sizes in the computer on our own, that’s a lot of difference in overall diameter.

Saw a photo today, that someone took at the Portland event. Sidewall showed 305. Performance rubber is definitely not cheap. Won't last long either. Gotta pay to play.

Has anyone heard of the 305's are mounted on the same 8.5" wheels that all of the other trims come with or are they on wider wheels?

If the rear wheels are wider it would be annoying for everyone who wants to go with a square setup for their winters. And since the factory tires are going to be summer tires pretty much everyone is going to need a set of winters.

This is not correct. Front will remain standard 22" size, and rear will be a lower profile 305 tire.

The new Rivian R1T/R1S Ascend Quad Max has a staggered tire setup with the following wheel sizes:
  • Front: Michelin Pilot Sport SS HL275/50R22 116V
  • Rear: Michelin Pilot Sport SS 305/45R22 118V

All these posts speculating that Michelin might sell the tires exclusively to Rivian. Have you ever heard of that for any tire brand or any vehicle?

I extremely doubt that would happen, Michelin might just not have the tire available to purchase until the gen2 quad is released or a few months after. That is very common.

They are not lower profile just wider.

Overall height is the same. Going from roughly a 10% lower aspect ratio but also 10% wider maintains the same height and sidewall thickness front and rear roughly.
Yes. Just pointing out what those two digits are. % of width in mm (3 digits ahead of the slash) yields height of sidewall.
