It would be interesting to test the Electric Drive AT against Territory AT in 275/60R20 XL and find out what the $150 difference is.
I'd love to be able to do a direct comparison driving each back-to-back. To me what made the $150 difference worth it was 1) The bigger 275/65 size, 2) The slightly more aggressive tread, 3) The 50K mile tread life warranty, 4) the foam sound insert, and 5) I hate money (We do own Rivian's, after all.)

To clarify, I'm not sure I agree with Tire Rack classifying the Pirelli Scorpion AT as an "off-road all-terrain". It always seemed a bit more highway-biased in comparison to a true AT like the Toyo OC AT and is nowhere close to a BFG AT KO3.
Each tire category has tiers, spanning across both extreme ends of that category. I think of the Scorpion AT as AT-lite. In terms of construction it's as if Pirelli took the basic make-up of a AS and did what was necessary to make it an AT, without adding significant amount of weight (and compromise efficiency). The way I see it... MT > RT > AT > AT-lite > AT/AS (and all-weather) > AS. And speaking of tiers, among AS you have a plethora of tiers ranging from MS, to highway, to Sport.

Wow 10% efficiency gain will be well worth it if that pans out.
Is the tire height the same? Shorter tire might trick the computer that the distance is greater than it is.

I'm looking for this exact tire.... road oriented with just a hint of AT. I think a lot of people share the views of what I'm seeing in this thread. They want an on-road tire that's grippy/light/smooth/quiet/efficient on the road, but has the looks and minor off road capabilities of a more AT oriented tire.

This isn't a totally bad looking tire, its more rugged design beats the boring Michelin LTX M/S 2, but man I wish Goodyear would have gone a different direction with those logos. They could've made it so much better looking. What is with these companies and gaudy logos/branding/marketing?

To the Goodyear engineer in this thread, please slap the designer/marketer who made the sidewall tramp stamp decision on this tire. Unless they are, in fact, a child... in that case, don't slap them. Hire some Italians to run your design team (See new Pirelli XTM).

Doesn't the Goodyear Wrangler AT rivian tire then meet your needs and appearance wants?

Both are under the Wrangler subrand. The OEM tire is Territory AT RIV—a non-electric Goodyear product, modified to spawn a Rivian-specific variant. And earlier in the thread he spelled out exactly why he chose the Electric Drive AT. The Territory AT RIV is only available in 275/60R20, which is 1.1" smaller in diameter to 275/65R20.

He wants the 34" inch height of the 275/65.

It's a different person. Similar names but different...

RIV—a non-electric Goodyear product
All these modern tires apparently have the same compound suitable for the weight and wear and "electric" compatible is a marketing term. Seems like foam usually only reduces ~2db and is non perceptible.

I too was considering these tires for looks. But it seems like they actually look worse than the Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT Rivian OEM 33s.

You're misquoting. The Territory AT started as a non-Rivian, non-EV-minded product. Goodyear tweaked it to create a variant specifically for the R1. What exactly is tweaked, we don't know and has not been disclosed. Safe to assume it's not just for GVWR considerations, but also for efficiency (rolling resistance) and NVH.

The Electric Drive AT is part of Goodyear's Electric Drive line of products, which even include e-MBT tires. It started as a EV-minded tire from the get-go.

How exactly are they worse? no head-to-head testing is done. On paper, all that is known is they cost more. Looks? as in aesthetics? that's entirely subjective.

Why are the 33’s not 3PMS rated and the 34’s are?

Can anyone who has these tires share their efficiency (regardless of how far you've driven)? I just installed these tires on my Gen1 quad R1S and I'm shocked at what I'm seeing very early on. Over 30k miles on the 20 inch scorpions I averaged 2.07 m/kwh. I was expecting these tires to be about the same efficiency, and hoped that they would be slightly higher since they are more road oriented with slight AT. However over my first 30 miles driving them I'm getting 1.37 m/kwh!! I have been driving normal and the efficiency graph driving around normal places is just showing WAY lower efficiency than I normally see, so it's quite concerning.

Of course new tires will be less efficient until they get worn in, but it shouldn't be THAT big a difference right? I'm considering swapping them out for the Territory ATs.
