In for responses. I've been paying close attention to the new releases this year *specifically* in 275/65/20 with standard load (116T/H). Namely the Toyo Open Country AT3 EV and this Nitto Terra Grappler G3.
The Toyo's just became available this last week or so (in 275/65/20 116H) and so far there are a few Rivians running them with some data starting to trickle out. These Nittos are still showing as "coming soon" in the OEM 20" specs.
The Nittos interest me the most since on some sites they are categorized as "on-road all terrain" tires, where the Toyos are "off-road all terrain". There is not much info from either brand as to their bias towards on or off road, but it is clear from the tread pattern and design that the Toyos are a true off-road all terrain tire. The Nittos also appear to be very off-road capable but they may have a little better road manners, despite the fact that they are not rated/marketed for EV specialization.
Either way, I am leaning Nitto at the moment with hopes that they are the true "holy grail" moving forward for those of us with Rivians who want to keep an OEM sized 34" all-terrain tire with the appropriate 116T/H Standard Load rating (important for weight/efficiency and compliance vs a heavier and stiffer LT) and still retain good looks and capability off pavement. If the G3s end up producing even a marginal improvement in efficiency on an R1, that would make them among the best current choices for those of us who don't tow or do heavy off-roading, but still want tires that look good and remain relatively efficient.
If the Nittos are actually priced at $350 per tire as some sites are pre-advertising, that would be the icing on the cake. Lighter, quieter, cheaper and just as capable as OEM Pirellis is promising.

Awesome info/video - I think this tire will be hugely successful for Nitto…the weight savings alone has to be some kind of trade secret…look forward to first reviews:

I have been waiting for the Toyo OC AT3 EV 116, but I can't find them. The Nitto Terra Grappler G3 275/65R20 116T was my backup option. Since the time has now come to replace the OEM Pirellis, which I was somehow able to get 40,000 miles out of, I just ordered the Nittos. They will be here in 3-5 days. I'm anxious to see how they perform. I drive mostly on road, with only the occasional light off-road use, so I don't need anything crazy as far as off-road capability.

Ordered them from Discount Tire. They called Nitto and were able to get them. I will check back in after I get some miles on them to let you know my initial thoughts.

How much efficiency do you think it will reduce compare to AS tires with same size 275/60/20?Anyone get a set of these yet? Simpletire is showing a wide range of sizes available…

A guess would be a 0.1 MPK penalty for the different tread design. More significant would be the tire weight. Also, likely more important than the design is how it cancels noise and the aerodynamic effects (droning/humming).
The grappler will not be a high efficiency tire, but it also should be as good or even better than the OEM Pirelli. Add to that decent off-road capability and this will no doubt be a very popular tire for the R1.

simpletires site and other reddit users praise the improvements over the g2. with the blocks and full dept sipes. I'm looking to add this this Christmas. pairing them to an extra set of 20s wheel I've saved for mountain snowboarding season on the northeast coast. PA+NY.

I’ve been waiting on the Toyos on back order but just decided to switch to the Terra Grappler G3. Getting delivered to DT on Thursday. Will let everyone know initial reactions then.
