I just got my car back from the SC. I was told that there was a software fault that caused the amp to not receive the update. The updated my software to 51 again and all is well. I was told that they should be able to do this with a mobile visit too.

Hopefully they can prevent this from reoccurring and publish a tech bulletin so their service centers have this info.

I really find this fascinating.

Would love to have an option to turn off whatever fake engine sounds are being pumped into the cabin.

I'm thinking about finding a fuse for the amplifier and pulling it just to see what the difference is.

Hmm, there was never any engine noise in my R1S DM, unless that feature was never included in my vehicle.

There is no fake engine noise pumped into the cabin that I'm aware of. The noise I referred to is the pedestrian warning sound at low speed -

You randomly lost audio not tied to OTA update? Have you tried soft and hard resets?
Correct. Happened randomly over the week. Still persists after three soft reset and a single hard reset.

Already have mobile maintenance scheduled for 4/11....but one month of no proximity or turn signal sounds isn't good.

Hoping the 2025.06 is enough to reset the sound issue to fixed.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

I have had the same problem in my Gen 2 R1S tri max (software version 2025.22.30). Three days ago I got in the car and all sound was completely gone. Two soft resets and one hard reset have not solved the problem. I have a service appointment in two weeks, and after reading this thread, I have been in touch with Rivian about pushing a software update to my car. One thing I have trouble dealing with is buggy software in an expensive car. I hope they find a solution soon!

I’m also having this issue. It was intermittent the last few months, and a mobile appt found nothing (of course the sound was working when they came that day). But since 8/13 there has been no sound except for part of one day last week. SC appt isn’t for another month. It’s driving us nuts! Has anyone else gotten to the root of this problem recently?

Did they push a software update? I was told they never do that unless it shows that the latest didn’t install. Apparently they think a part needs to be replaced at a SC but I don’t know what part. Hoping to avoid a day trip to the SC.

Just FYI to this group that I have been experiencing this issue intermittently throughout last year, and more consistently after the most recent update earlier in January.

They tried updating the firmware, which did not resolve the issue. So I'm having my amplifier replaced.

I forgot to report back last year, but swapping out the amp did the trick for us.

Last year, my R1S was in the SC a little over a week; the techs tried a SW push to no avail and after some further diagnostics, it pointed to a faulty amp and they had to order one.

When the amp was received , the tech decided to try the SW update again and it worked. For whatever reason, their initial OTA SW push and the updates in the SC didn't correct the problem it was only later when they tried again did it work.

it's been operational since then.
