We have an R1S and R1T (both gen 1), we don’t subscribe to connect+ so we are getting the non-priority status and therefore we don’t have the update in the vehicles.

The only time I want priority update is when there is a limited time feature like Halloween.

So sad, I hope it comes soon

Don’t worry. When you get it you can simply use the Back to the Future theme to reverse time just before 11/4 so you can enjoy it a little longer…

Make fun all you want, but I do think there is an erosion of goodwill by this. There are metrics that show that Rivian owners love their vehicles more than any other brand out there right now.

Stupid stuff like not rolling out costumes is easily interpreted as greedy, or making some owners feel like second class citizens by not paying yet another $15/mo subscription, especially considering the large expense of the vehicle already.

Make fun all you want, but I do think there is an erosion of goodwill by this. There are metrics that show that Rivian owners love their vehicles more than any other brand out there right now.

They are rolling them out to everyone, even those who haven't subscribed to Connect+. Just in a different release ring.

Thats the logical response. The emotional one goes something like this:

Why do I need to subscribe to my $90,000 vehicle? That should have been baked in.

or

How many damn subscriptions do I need in my life now?

or

They didn't do Carplay because they wanted to milk more money from me.

or

They are specifically delaying this update to get more people to sign up. That's scummy.


All of those are negative.

And even if that were true, the easiest answer is to subscribe for those present months and then lapse. Your time to write this flame cost you more than the monthly subscription fee.

To be clear - I'm not 'flaming'. It doesn't really matter to me.

I'm pointing out that this is a controversial issue. Folks can have differing opinions on it, some of which you may not see as valid but are real and arguable, nonetheless.

Judging by the number of clearly flaming threads, that absolutely the case. We're a long, long way from everyone being happy that deliveries have started...

We 100% do know that Connect+ subscribers are getting priority updates. It's litteraly listed in the features of Connect+...
