I mean, I can't say I blame them, but its not like they couldn't come out with a realistic valuation and dilute the shares later with additional offerings. They only have so much bandwidth in the c-suite. It doesn't matter if they get 15 billion today, or 8 billion now, and another 8 billion next year or so; frankly, I doubt they have the capability to efficiently utilize that much capital. Theres a point of diminished returns there.

If they waited to do an additional offering, they'd better understand where to additional capital investments were needed. The downside, is that they'd risk the share price tanking on the open market, and have to dilute more and more to raise a given dollar amount.

I decided not to buy shares after the production delay and the first valuation increase so fuck it, Rivian to the moon, I hope they raise as much cash as possible.

My understanding from the article is - their currently valuation is around $60B and with $10B they'll be raising, it'd be $70B.
