Thank you - I had a feeling 128 kW was fake news. That still extrapolates to 346 and change.

I think one of the major outlets had added that much power back but that included charging losses etc.

Was any of your driving cold weather driving?
Not very much - picked up the truck on 5/13 so only really had one good snowstorm after that. High temps have been in the 80s for most of the time I've had it.

The other thing we haven't talked about is how loaded the R1T is. The person in the video was traveling by himself and likely didn't have much stuff weighing down the R1T.

If he was traveling with a family that had a lot of junk in the frunk, I doubt he would have gotten that level of efficiency.

Just finished out trip up through the UP. First half was with the awning and tent on the truck. Second half was with the above and a 15' inflatable tandem kayak. Without the tandem we were generally driving faster on the freeway, but not always. Usage likely includes all the ancillary camp kitchen usage, etc. First half was definitely hotter and faster driving overall, even if the average speed number doesn't calculate out that way.
Either way, better range than I expected with the Kayak up top. Lots of times I was looking down doing 75 with an average over 2kWh for the last 15 minutes.

Thanks for sharing! Impressive efficiency given all the potential drag. Do you have a camp kitchen? A RIVIAN branded one or a DIY one?

DIY, but it's the same cooktop that Rivian has in their demonstrator models. It's been working well but I need to finish integrating it into the gear tunnel. I also have a dometic cfx3 35 on a slideout and a 15 gallon water tank + 2.5 gallon bosch water heater in the bed. It's difficult to wash dishes with cold water, heated water made it way easier.

Mind sharing your water heating setup? I’m of the “boil some water and use it sparingly to wash dishes,” but given the capability of the Rivian and the fact that I’ll have (nearly) limitless electricity nearby, it would be nice to be shower-capable. My wife might enjoy car camping again.

That is a badass setup. Love to see pictures sometime.

These numbers don't mean much to the average user. In order to get a valid estimate of range, a controlled round trip needs to be done. And, even with this data, the real world of driving the vehicle is considerable influenced by elevation climbs. I drive my R1T to work on Sunday night roughly 120 miles with a significant elevation drop to work and a significant climb back home. I return on Thursday night. I get 3.5m on the way down and barely 1.1 on the way up. Which means I am always cautious about my state of charge on the way up as it will diminish quickly in places where there are no charges. It is cool though to drive down the hill and have more range then when I started the trip. Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but until there areelevation calculations done when calculating a trip, the information is only for those on relatively flat land driving. For me, without the elevation differential being taken into consideration, the trip estimator in relation to charge is useless. And when I see a post that shows impressive numbers, I can get mine to show 3.5+ if that helps.

Sure, but a trip of almost 1,000 miles up the east coast tends to wash those things out, and ultimately is a data point, and just that. I take the point of this thread is anecdotal real world data points, not a scientific study/conclusion on range to be applied as everyone's baseline. For every report of achieving 350 mi, there will be some illustrating conditions that lead to sub 300 mi range. Neither are wrong.

For one reference point, the first leg from GA to NC had a nearly identical (within something like 10 feet or something) elevation beginning and end, and achieved efficiency similar to the overall trip average. It's possible there was a 15mph tailwind the entire 1,000 miles, who knows.

I do think it would be good practice for anyone providing reports on range/efficiency to provide four qualifying pieces of information:

- Avg Speed
- Avg Ambient Temp
- Elevation profile (starting, ending, major changes in between)
- Avg Wind profile (speed and direction)

It is a difficult number to achieve. At this early stage of EV adoption collecting numbers with some form of relative data points will be helpful. I just leave Trip B untouched since purchase and use that figure to calculate trip usage on average with my area of driving. But in the end, achieving a 400 mile range would hit a target people are used to with ICE vehicles. I have a 2014 Raptor that is supercharged and get 400 miles in between fill ups. Don't worry much about the "when" for fill ups. At 293 estimate range and more like 220 average range, I am always thinking about "when". That being said I don't worry much about the "why" when I look at the cost relative to my Raptor!

Alright folks, for those of us who are locked in to the 22" wheels, I'm creating this thread to track what people are getting in terms of mi/kWh and overall range in various modes and driving/environmental conditions.

Very impressive report from Electrified_Motors who took a 900+ trip from Atlanta to NYC and was averaging 2.77 mi/kWh (with nearly 346 miles of range extrapolated at one point) on 22's in mostly conserve mode (some all purpose) with an average speed of 62 miles an hour (because of traffic).

In in-town driving, I'm looking at 320 currently in conserve mode.

Thanks, C.R. Is that what your guessometer is telling you, what you are extrapolating from your driving to a certain percentage, or are you taking your R1T to close to 0% charge and getting 320?

Either way, very impressive.
