Guess I can add my name to the delivery cancelled/postponed list! :D

Supposedly new delivery date is June 4th, but based on past users' experiences, I'm sure it'll get delayed yet again.

Jesus! Mine as well! So much for getting my delivery right after yours!

I think there is something going on that they aren't willing to admit. I called out my guide on this and they wont say a word. I think they have a mission critical problem they are hiding at the moment.

The crazy thing is I went to the center this weekend to confirm that my build was there and it was. I thought for sure there is no way this could get pushed...

Damn ... yeah, someone at the factory is effing up for sure ... apparently there's interior damage to the B pillars on my truck ... that is 100% NOT shipping related! LOL

I think they are so focused on pushing trucks out, that they are overwhelming the service centers to do QC which is not what they're meant for ... they should be meant for supporting existing customers -- not taking cars apart and putting them together before delivery :)

Thats insane and concerning all at the same time. I've asked what my damage is but I haven't heard back.

I'm really starting to question this early decision honestly...

I'm sure it'll all be fine -- and I'm glad Rivian is taking care of issues proactively. I think it's just growing pains and trying to meet "delivery quota" before all the earning calls etc.

Eventually, all these issues will be taken care of at the factory before the car/truck leaves I'm sure ...

Also I'm sure in their system, it's just a drop down with limited options to pick from to describe how damage happens -- so the SC team just ends up picking "During shipping" and that's what gets relayed to us :) So ..

Anyway, I am still excited -- a bit bummed because had to make a bunch of phone calls plus the fact that I'll be paying for 2 cars until I pick up the truck, but I'm sure in the long run, we'll all be fine with a little bit of patience :)

I sympathize with the OP. It's disappointing to face a delay. You had planned to take delivery last Tuesday, and you're still cooling your heels. That sucks. That last mile is always the longest one. However, the idea that Rivian falls far short in this area, as compared to legacy automakers (and Tesla), is a head-scratcher for me. The last Honda that I bought had to be ordered. Honda couldn't tell me when it would be built, whether it was in transit, what date I would get it. The best answer I got was "Maybe sometime in the next two months." The dealership found out my truck was finished when it showed up on the lot. I found out when they called me later that day. When I bought my wife's Audi, it was manufactured in Germany and shipped to the US. We got a 90-day range guesstimate on when it would arrive. Again, the dealer found out that the car was ready when it arrived on the lot. They called me the next day. I've heard and seen many other delivery SNAFUs from Tesla, Hyundai, Ford, GM, etc, that resulted in delays and frustration. I'm not saying that the OP shouldn't be irritated, but let's not pretend that order-to-delivery processes work with well-oiled efficiency at every other auto manufacturer. The only smooth delivery that is virtually guaranteed is if you visit an auto dealer, see a vehicle sitting there with a sticker in the window, and say "I want that one." Any time you order a vehicle from any manufacturer, the possibility of delay and delivery drama exists.

Well, I stand corrected. The service center person called back and said it actually wasn't my truck that was affected. I'm good to go for tomorrow. I guess it was yours. Sorry about that! I feel your pain!

I think we should start the 8-step process support group.

I’ve been calling for a new CEO for awhile. There are simply too many failures and problems at this point. RJ should be a chief product officer and chairman but he has not demonstrated he should run what is supposed to be a large scale auto company.
RJ isn't responsible for supply chain issues. Try introducing a EV company into the wild 2 years ago. This is a GLOBAL ISSUE. I can agree Rivian has to get better concerning communications, but other than that - s00n.

People shouldn't pay for the truck until step 8 opens if they are that worried about it. It will open without you paying for it, but if they don't get the money before they are scheduled to deliver, they won't deliver it.

Ya, but also, what's the real cost for paying a couple of weeks early - like $150 or something?

Stopped me from losing more money since I sold some of my crypto to buy the truck a few months back.

True, with the market today, paying in advance probably turns a profit :CWL:

Not sure about today but Mini had this dialed in back in 2005.

I custom ordered Mini Cooper on line, I would get regular updates as the order moved through the different phases of the build process. Got updates when it went to the port, got on the ship, landed in Long Beach, CA, and made it to the dealer. Even had the ability to see where the ship was while it crossed the ocean.

The car was for my daughter and she really enjoyed monitoring the entire progress.
