Ongoing Half Shaft Issues… Looking for Advice

Oddly enough, I've never had any problems with my truck, got a call out of the blue to have the half-shafts replaced under warranty/recall, and just got the truck back yesterday. No changes I can tell, except my interior charge port cover came back loose (they also did one of the indicator light recalls at the same time).

Yeah if you were experiencing it in a Gen 1 pre mid February 2023 build date, then you have a Gen 1 welded sub frame and it's the likely culprit. It hasn't come back since the retrofit.

Only if the replaced parts were paid for outside of warranty.

An example would be a part replaced at 59,999 miles would have a 1 mile warranty, but cost you nothing. A part replaced at 60,001 miles would cost you parts and labor, but carry a part warranty of up to 2 years. I haven't done any digging to see what mileage limit that 2 year part warranty has.

Did Rivian offer any deeper diagnostics, goodwill support, extended coverage, or a more long term fix?

Yes, many people have had half-shafts replaced multiple times. My personal experience has been repeated replacement of the ting washers vs. the entire half-shaft. Both are a band-aid for the issue that will not last.

It is very much a design flaw that does not have a permanent solution for the first few years of R1 vehicles. Time will tell if the later models still have the same problem but, I am seeing plenty of messages with Gen 2s having half-shafts replaced as well so, I think the problem is still very much alive.
