Part of this is 100% on me, I have a big honkin Garmin watch that has insane sharp edges. Just so you know.

But in my Gen2 Tri, I've recently noticed that the beautiful matte bronze trim that adorn the interior, they flake off incredibly easily when scratched. What's more, it's a bright reflective chrome layer underneath, so any scratch is highly visible and reflective. I know I must have knocked the trim with my watch on the steering wheel and center console, but there are some gouges on the passenger side door trim too (and I have NEVER once had a passenger), so I'm pretty sure it was caused when the truck was in for service.

No big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I'm annoyed at how high contrast the scratches become. I might try to mask them and use some bronze sharpie or paint on them, just to fill in the scratches and make then reflect less...

Noted. I too have a Garmin Fenix and have scratched up many things with it. Not my Rivian trim yet thankfully but I’ll keep in mind to be careful.

Yeah you got it, Fenix/Epix/Enduro.

Here are some pics that show what I'm seeing:

It doesn't bother me all that much now, but definitely has some rent-free space up there.

That's why I bang my garmins on many other things shortly after I get them.

That's why I take mine off when rock climbing. My last one skidded down the face of the wall more than once. Held up well, but didn't look so great.

I have a Fenix 7x Sapphire Solar, while the anodized blue face has been scuffed up, the crystal face has held up to concrete, rebar hits, etc.

Fortunately no Rivian dings.

Oh, that's a good point. My Fenix/Epix also have that "diamond hard" or whatever annodized coating over the steel/titanium. And that layer looks a lot like the dark matte of the Ascend trim, but on the watch it's extremely durable. There are a few minor scuffs on the sharp edges where I've raked it against rocks/walls/car trim, but I wish the interior trim on the R1T was as tough as the coating on the Garmin!

Same. In the aforementioned rock climbing incidents the bezel that is titanium got all scratched up with ZERO scratches on the watch face. If only they could make cell phones out of the same glass.

Maybe they can make the interior finishes more rugged for a refresh and the R2. Definitely not fun to have a ton of noticeable scratches, bronco interior was the same way.
