Ordered from the shop and R1S sent to wrong service center

Anyone order from the shop to find out that their R1 was sent and prepped at the wrong service center?

My sister in Denver ordered from the shop, and just got a text saying that her R1S is almost ready. The problem is the service center sending the message noted Gaithersburg, Maryland. We double checked her address on Rivian's website, as well as her contract. All show Denver and the Steele Street service center in Denver. We also emailed her guide and are waiting on a response.

How dare they....unacceptable.

I'm sure this along with other mistakes happen. My truck came with a spare wheel/spare tire kit when I didn't order it. I complained but they woudln't take it back...j/k

Sorry to hear that. Yes there have been reports of this happening to other folks.

Maybe not what you want to hear but probably they will try to match you to a different vehicle (either in IL or already in Denver) but I suspect with the end of the year push they will still get you a R1S before the end of the year if at all possible.

Mistakes happen. At least they aren’t telling to get it yourself on your own time/dime; like UPS and FedEx routinely do on their mistakes.

This is news only if Rivian tells you you’re on your own. It’s probably not even Rivian’s fault but the rail company, once the cars are handed over for transport.

I ordered mine from the shop back in March and scheduled a pickup in Richmond, VA. I got a couple of confusing messages about its exact location (one person said it was still on the train from Normal), but ultimately that person was wrong and it was waiting for me in Richmond the entire time. Was a very fast process, took me longer to fill out the paperwork and take a train to Richmond than it did for them to have the truck ready. Hopefully yours is the same - just a mixup from one person. ?

That said, Gaithersburg, MD service center has hundreds of trucks there awaiting delivery. Let us know where they find it.

We're hoping its typing error and not a logistical error... although if they did pay for the flight out to pick it up, it could be a fun road trip back.

Status update: turns out the R1S was in fact at the Maryland service center, and Rivian is now sending it to the Denver service center.
