Same here. I called today and they said they can send it over the cloud and it might take but I would still need to bring the truck in for camera calibration.

I’d be curious to know what your SC is charging for the recal. They sent my invoice to approve for service next week and it was $240 for the recal and camera adjust. Thats with the wheels already on! I just told them to remove it from the work order.

If I was a software engineer at Rivian, I would’ve suggested the following:

Inside the Rivian app, have the ability to take a pic of your new wheel/tire mounted. Then the ML workflow would simply read the tire info off the sidewall and adjust/calibrate the new size on your vehicle. In addition, it will automatically crop the tire/wheel from your photo and update the side view of your vehicle in the app.

IMO, from a customer’s point of view, this would provide a simple, good experience.

We cyclists with GPS computers have auto-calibration for different tire and wheel sizes. We don’t enter the tire circumference like the old days before GPS. It just works. We do have a setting to use auto-calibration, or we can turn it off and manually input a circumference. If you don’t have a speed sensor on your wheel, the computer uses GPS to calculate your speed and distance ridden.

The had done it for free previously when I went from 20s to 21s but I think they were just trying to shut me up because they couldn't solve my tire balance issue on my 20s. For this time I said I didn't want service at this time so I didn't get a quote. $240 is a bit outrageous!

How many miles on the truck? They may waive it if under the 12,000 mile adjustment warranty. If your over that they will likely charge to do it.

Perplexing. I heard some had it done by a mobile visit for free, and some paid $50 at their SC. Maybe those were in the early days before everyone started switching. Maybe they’re annoyed I got the 2nd hand and didn’t pay them full sucker-price. Who knows.

I’m definitely gonna ask at drop off next Tuesday. Seems like this stuff shouldn’t be SC or tech dependent. I was hoping the OTA would 1. work and 2. be free (or at least nominal cost).

I think the techs dgaf, but the back-office types try to keep the money coming in any which way. Like I said before, the guy I spoke to on the phone said he was at an SC and it sounded like it. He "ran out to ask [his] boss if we can add it on, he said sure."

Never sent or never received? They'll call YOU after they send it to confirm. When you get that call, give it a sleep cycle, soft, and hard reset to try.

I put in the request, and nothing happened. Called back, and was told it would happen that night - but again nothing. So unclear if they attempted, but as I never received a call trying to confirm, I have to assume they never attempted to send.

I had my R1T updated from 21s to 20s at the service center. I now have an R1S. I do not think Rivian has figured out how to update the tire size. My R1S is far more accurate when it comes to range and battery percentage.

My R1T at 100% SOC would report 347 miles of range. The best range I ever saw was 275 miles. So the guess-o-meter was off by 75 miles.

The R1S at 100% SOC reports 303 miles of range. I have been achieving 285 miles. About 20 off.

I do not think Rivian has been able to correctly update our cars. Anyone else see differences after the update?

Update, $120+tax. Waiting to hear if they'll do actual non-Rivian with the same diameter. If they say no, I'm having it removed. I'll wait for the OTA that let's us set it ourselves, I'm used to driving faster now anyway.

Sidebar: service agent on the phone was confused by my ask and sounded perplexed that I didn't get tires through them. Are they surprised people don't want to pay through the nose, wait 4 months, and travel hours just to get tires replaced?

Recently switched to 20s from 22s. Thinking the speedo has gone from showing 1 mph faster than actual to about 1-2 mph less than actual. What are the consequences of not getting the cameras recalibrated? Don't really care if the screen shows the wrong wheels.

Currently waiting on same request. Service advisor is supposed to call me tomorrow to check if the OTA wheel configuration changes.

Whether it works or not, at least its an indicator they are working on “touchless” alternatives. Date to dream indeed…

In a Tesla it is a simple drop down where you choose which wheels you have (unfortunately they don’t let you plug in a correction factor or custom tire sizes if you are not using stock sizes).
Doesn’t seem it should be rocket science.
