Fair enough. Personally I wouldn't care if it could go 1000 miles and cost $50k if it still looks the same. I wouldn't be caught dead in that hideous abomination of a vehicle.

Yeah, the CyberTruck isn't in the running for me at all. It's too big, it's too spartan on the interior for my tastes (same reason the Model 3 and Model Y are not in the running for us as a second car). Not to mention the exterior design... very much not my taste.

Porsche I've never really looked at (not sure why), I'm just assuming the price will be higher than what I'd be comfortable with.

Polestar is a great call out, the 3 looks interesting, but we have no details yet, so I'd put that in contention for my wife if an unveil and ordering kicks off this summer, but I think it will just be too late to replace the wife's car (I'm also concerned with the efficiency in general from the Volvo/Polestar group... it's one of the big hesitations on the XC40 recharge and why we only put down a refundable deposit on an order and didn't buy one outright yet).

cyber truck is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. Wouldn't drive that abomination if it was cheap and had a long range. Maybe Musk is a huge blade runner fan and thought it would be a good idea to reproduce the cars or he was extremely high when he approved the design. Either way there are not many options out there other than SUV's that all look the same and I don't wan't a car. If I am impressed with the Silverado I will reserve that. Other than that it's rivian

If there is a re-boot of "Back to the Future" in 2029, Doc Brown's time machine will be a Cyber Truck.

An attempt to improve CT’s ranking:

Not even close.

The CT isnt just hideous. It's ugly AND incredibly lazy. There are no design cues, there's no aesthetic at work. It's sloppy, stupid, childish design and Musk thinks (knows) his fanbois will just eat it up and pretend that it's genius.

Personally, I reject this intellectual laziness no matter the practicality.

Please don’t hold back. Tell me how you really feel ;) I think you need to sit in an ID Buzz for 10 minutes and repeat these words; “Serenity Now”

Would it have been less intellectually “lazy” if they had designed the CT look like……every other vehicle on the road?

Interesting take.

It’s an interesting scenario.

Let’s assume CT hits 500 miles/70k. At those numbers, it may be able to win over people that are generally put off by its aesthetics. (??‍♂). If it comes in with numbers much more in line with Rivian, Ford, etc., so in the 325 mile/80k range, my guess is it will be a vehicle purely for die-hard Tesla fanboys.

At 500 miles, 70k, I would consider it. Under those numbers (or higher, for price) and I am probably writing it off as a non-option and waiting for the R1T.

I guess the biggest question is what happens if it comes in higher than Rivian, Ford, GM (say, 400 miles of range for 65k‘ish), but not in an overwhelming way. Then do its aesthetics still keep most people away? Probably, I would think.

My two cents.

At $65K 400 mile, I will probably stay with R1S. At $50K 320 mile, I will flip.

I am not too crazy about Tesla or CT’s look but I will sell my soul to the devil for a good deal. That said, realistically I don’t expect a good deal from Tesla unless it is pushed hard by the competition. Luckily, it looks like we are heading in that direction. When we will get there, your guess is as good as mine.

I agree with this. I think it is ugly. I am a R1S preorder holder, but would like to upgrade from my volt in a few years when my daughter starts driving. My wife gave me the go ahead to get a R1T Max pack. If cybertruck can tow 14k lbs and and get clos to 500 miles unladen, and for a similar price, I would strongly consider.

In reality, I don't believe that will be the case, so I will most likely be a two Rivian family ina. Few years.

First off, HAPPY NEW YEARS to all! ?

Last Summer, our very own @thrill was kind enough to introduce us to one of the most amazing, yet-to-exsist vehicles in the history of humankind, 2.0 (see video below).

On the heels of this amazing development, I set out on a journey of self-fulfillment and, hopefully, self-enrichment. After close to an hour of blood, sweat, and tears, I single-handedly developed the now-most amazing, yet-to-exsist vehicles in the history of humankind, 2.1

While you may have missed this earlier roll-out, you have just less than 10 hours to get your place in line before this offer ends. Don't miss the chance to become the first in your neighborhood to have your friends and family say "Wow! Can you believe that!"

First, the competition:

Now, once again, my shameless plug:
(get out your popcorn and your checkbo....uh....cash and/or crypto!)
........................................................................................................................
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Rivian community,

I'm pleased to kick off my new line of amazing vehicles to the world, right here on RivianForums. They're all part of the most incredible transportation company known to mankind. For the first time ever, I'm pleased to introduce this magnificent line of full electric vehicles that the world, no, the entire universe, has yet to experience! These vehicles are not only fully electric, they're full self-driving, full self-charging, and full self-actualizing, all with Asteroid-Proof glass and bodies!

Behold! I introduce to you the Beta Sheep, Sheep+, and SuperSheep!

These vehicles are being made public here, for the first time, against the backdrop of our new parking and roadway surface, made entirely of trees that died a natural death from an over-abundance of carbon in the atmosphere.

These vehicles are so special and efficient that you can get over 7,000 miles on a single charge, all in less than 15 minutes. Best of all, you're able to gain that full charge from the same USB-C charger used for your cell phone or other personal devices, as shown here, on the Sheep, pictured in our Three-Mile Island Radioactive Green Mist foam wrap. It actually glows in the dark!

"Nothing says clean, like glow-in-the-dark green!"

Next is our ultra-modern, two-person Sheep+ in Sunset From Europa Reddish Burnt Orange. The Interior is done in Milky Way Galactica. While the specks appear to be dust-like against the backdrop of Deep Space, they are actually a reproduction of our home galaxy as hand-painted by an actual T.V. Astrophysicist, by the initials of N.D.T. The steering wheel is actually embossed with hand-inlayed Sterling Silver-like paint.

And last, but not least, is our five-row, seventeen passenger Luxurotransporter Model of the SuperSheep, in White As Seagull-ible matted finish. It's as though the Seagulls themselves loved it so much, they laid down their own deposit. The look alone causes many an onlooker to exclaim, "Wow, that's really Progressive!"

We know you'd love to see the interior of this Spacecraft-On-Earth, but we've engaged our unique "Darth Vader Shader" glass technology so as not to over-share everything ahead of our upcoming BlastOff, scheduled to take place in early December (year TBD).

Although we're currently spending all of our time, resources, and energy developing the tremendous technology behind these incredible vehicles, our Marketing Department was still able to craft the following video to show off all of our achievements to date (following this amazing video is a sneak-peek at our upcoming retro-line versions of all three Beta vehicles from our Ansel Adams collection).

For those of you lucky enough to become early adopters of the Beta Lifestyle, not only will you be able to make a $10,000 semi-refundible deposit on the Beta vehicle(s) of your choice, but you'll also have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join in the soon-to-be-revealed SPAC, ahead of it going both public and sky-high. Don't be the one who missed the chance to be taken for a ride!

Call 1-800-GULLIBLE today for a full prospectus of this offer, along with the upcoming SEC pleadings. (offering underwritten by Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe, a fully delisted company).

Remember, as midnight approaches, INVEST, BEFORE YOU REST!

HAPPY 2022 TO ALL OF YOU!!! ?
